EDU1870: Education in East Asia Discussion

On April,28th, 2017, I led 70 minutes long discussion about Globalization in EDU1870: Education in East Asia at Brown University. It was the last discussion of the semester, and I intentionally chose a 'teatime at cafe' theme so that all students could casually share their experiences.

9. 06 A lot of Korean students want to go to United States graduate schools while Japanese students do not. Why do you think there is a difference between these two East Asian countries?
10. Nincholas Negroponte, MIT Media Lab founder and a tech visionary, gave a TED talk in March, 2014. One of his predictions was that people would be able to swallow pills to learn languages. Let’s assume that this situation became actually possible. Then do you think there will be still many people who will send their children to other countries for the educational purpose?
