  2. What is it? • An implementation of the core Git

    methods • Portable C (even MSVC understands it) • Zero dependencies (except for network)

  3. Why? • You can shell out to git • But

    you then have to parse text • Coarse API • Some parts aren’t machine-readable

  4. Where’s libgit1? • git itself has libgit.a for sharing code

    • Doesn’t free memory • Dies on many errors • Assumes it’s a single-threaded program working on one repository
