  1. Digital assistants are contextually aware and capable, but dull to

human emotions. That's great. OK Google, I'm feeling happy!
  2. In the near future, AI will be able to help

us with anything we ask it to, and artificial interpretation of human emotion is necessary for more organic interactions between people and computers. To achieve this, we need a device to introduce the idea of empathic AI to the world.
  3. - John MacFarlane, CEO, SONOS Now that you have access

to 150m tracks, what the hell do you play? The app is still way too hard to use. How do we make a morning playlist for you that just delights you? Oh man, we have so much to do. “ ”
  4. We envisioned a method to capture emotions through drawing and

using that insight to play the right music for the mood.
  5. The initial concept. Through Jacquard, we reduced the interface to

a single intuitive surface while enhancing usability and experience.
  6. Why we want to use Jacquard. Jacquard is the perfect

instrument for this system. It has all the capabilities of a touch screen without the visual clutter, yet it is more satisfyingly tactile and tangible than any digital interface.
  7. It is somehow getting the technology out of the way

and making interaction more natural and more seamless. — João Wilbert, Google ATAP
  8. How it will work. TRANSLATING MOTION INTO EMOTION A massive

machine-learning database of gestural drawings will be mapped to emotions and correlated to relevant music.
  9. Powered by people. VELOCITY, SPORADICNESS, CURVE LINEARITY, SEGMENT QUANTITY, TRANSITION

SMOOTHNESS There are countless human metrics to be recorded and analyzed, and the ability to learn over time will increase accuracy and satisfaction with use. This is where Hansei gets its name.
