distributed when you walk in the classroom and are collected before we get started. Exit tickets are distributed at the end of class and are collected on your way out the door. I’ve allotted 10 minutes for each assignment - no need to arrive early/stay late. For each ticket, you will provide your name, the date, and your answer to the “ticket question” on the board. Each ticket is worth 4 points - you get 1 free point for handing it in and the remaining 3 points will be given based on the quality/correctness of your answer.

follow (roughly) the same schedule: ‣ Announcements ‣ Entrance Ticket ‣ Chapter Presentations/Roundtable ‣ 3 Classwork Assignments ‣ Article & Discussion/Typing Practice ‣ Exit Ticket One classwork assignment each day will be formally graded for content, the other 2 just for completion.
  10. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROCEDURES COURSE INTRODUCTION CHAPTER PRESENTATIONS The first class

of each week, we will divide the class up into groups. With your group, you will create a poster with the essential information for your assigned part of the week’s content. Each group will present their poster to the class and answer any questions. We will then conduct a “gallery walk,” where we visit all other posters and add any new ideas/missed content to them with sticky notes. I will scan and post all posters on the course webpage. This is an AOP123/223 specific activity, enjoy not having formal lectures and practice your communication (and creativity!) skills.
  11. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROCEDURES COURSE INTRODUCTION CHAPTER ROUNDTABLE The second class

of each week, we conduct a formal roundtable discussion of the chapter material. We will use the discussion questions as a guide for this “meeting;” everyone will get 1 (or more) of the chapter discussion questions and will be responsible for leading the class discussion for that question and any material that goes along with it. This is another opportunity for you to hone your communication skills, understand the course material, and become a more professional speaker.
  12. THE WEEKLY CHAPTER PRESENTATIONS AND ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION COUNT TOWARD THE

PROFESSIONALISM GRADE. SO DO SOCRATIC SEMINARS (LATER).
  13. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROCEDURES COURSE INTRODUCTION LAB COMPETENCIES Each lab course

is associated with a list of competencies you are required to meet before passing. Meeting a competency requirement counts as a classwork assignment and has two associated components: ‣ THE “PROOF” You will turn in some piece of work that shows you are able to fill the competency requirement. Usually this is a specific assignment. ‣ THE “PUDDING” A brief write-up summarizing what the competency means, why it is important to you as an AOP, and how you meet it.
  14. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROCEDURES COURSE INTRODUCTION CLASSWORK ASSIGNMENTS Each class, we

will have 3 classwork assignments. Depending on the class, one or more of these assignments may be a lab competency. All lab competencies are graded separately, but one classwork assignment from each class will be formally graded, others are just assigned a(n) (in)complete for participation. Unless otherwise noted, you are encouraged to work together on classwork assignments, but are required to turn in an individual submission. Typically classwork assignments and necessary material will be available on the course webpage.
  15. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROCEDURES COURSE INTRODUCTION ARTICLE & DISCUSSION Once a

week, we will read a current article relevant to the business/professional world and watch a video on a similar topic. Then, as a class we will hold a socratic seminar, where we divide the class in half. Each member of the discussion will be responsible for leading us in a discussion question. Unlike our roundtables, socratic seminars are heavily focused on supporting your ideas with evidence from the article or video.
  16. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROCEDURES COURSE INTRODUCTION TYPING PRACTICE Once a week,

we will dedicate class time to working on our typing skills and becoming a faster, more advanced typist. I’ve decided to utilize a program called TypingClub for this, but am open to other suggestions.
  17. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE PROCEDURES COURSE INTRODUCTION CLASSROOM GUIDELINES Bring your body

and your brain to every class, and keep them on the entire time. Bring your laptop, phone, and necessary chargers to every class. Communication is key; stay up-to-date with Remind. Reply to questions. If you have a question, ask me. If you have a concern, tell me. If you have food, share with me. I am a reasonable person. Things I do are for a reason. Trust me on this, and be reasonable yourself.
