Richard Owens, Senior Systems Engineer at Huddle, explains to Elastic VP of Customer Care Marty Messer how they started using the full Elastic stack to overcome a scalability issue and high maintenance costs. For their search use case, Elasticsearch seemed to be the best fit as it was able to scale, it was easy to deploy, and the average response time went down by 1/3. For their logging use case, they chose the Elastic stack as it is open source, widely used, and it worked out of the box. Richard also discusses that the main driver to start a commercial relationship with Elastic was Shield.
