  2. Organic IT Organic IT recognises the direct connection between IT

Services and HOW THOSE SYSTEMS are produced
  3. Mechanised Agriculture ‣ Mechanisation, fertiliser & genetics ‣ Leads to

monoculture & specialisation ‣ Create negative outcomes ‣ over abundance of corn in USA leads to corn- derived sugar (high fructose corn syrup) ‣ “Easier” to make more corn than to grow beets, cane, grapes or other sugar crops even though more efficient, resilient and safer solution
  4. Cognitive Bias ‣ A cognitive bias is a pattern of

deviation in judgment, whereby inferences may be drawn in an illogical fashion. ‣ Individuals create their own “subjective social reality” from their perception of the input. ‣ An individual’s construction of social reality, not the objective input, may dictate their behaviour in the social world. ‣ Cognitive Biases may sometimes lead to perceptual distortion, inaccurate judgment, illogical interpretation, or what is broadly called irrationality.
  5. ITIL “Memory Bias” vs Organic ‣ ITIL enforces silos through

function identity, process management and strong controls ‣ Memory Bias - “Thats how its always done’
  6. “Status Quo Bias” vs Organic ‣ Status Quo ‣ “The

tendency to defend and bolster the status quo” ‣ Storage Arrays are the only solution that works
  7. “Exposure Effect Bias” vs Organic The tendency to judge harmful

actions as worse, or less moral, than equally harmful omissions (inactions).
  8. Companion Planting Companion planting in gardening and agriculture is the

planting of different crops in proximity for pest control, pollination, and to otherwise increase crop productivity.
  9. Companion Planting Nature: Grow Tomatoes, Onions and Garlic together. Outcome:

Onions/ garlic replace nitrogen, natural pest repellent and taste good together
  10. Process Goals Good Process standardises the Communication Which reduces overhead

of communication preventing getting things done. i.e. pointless meetings, long emails, wasted effort If you don’t like your process — your team’s, your company’s, your own —Fix it (don’t throw process away because it has a dirty name like ITIL or Prince2) Kanban / Agile / DevOps is a better Process
