will explore an early preview of Sencha's newest Ext JS development tool, Rapid Ext JS. “Rapid Ext JS is designed to speed up application development of Ext JS apps” Rapid Ext JS is a GUI extension for VS Code, enabling developers to visually build their Ext JS application, complete with drag and drop support of components, using Visual Studio Code as their development tool. This extension will aid in the rapid development of Ext JS apps by minimizing hand-coding efforts.

The focus is to design and develop a low-code editor that helps fast development of Ext JS apps by minimizing hand-coding efforts. The ongoing beta phase is targeted to make the extension more intuitive and user-friendly. Rapid Ext JS (previously known as VS Code Extension of Sencha Architect) is built with extensibility in mind. From the UI to the editing experience, almost every part of VS Code is customized and enhanced through the Extension. Since many core features of VS Code are built as extensions and use the same Extension API, building multiple feature-rich, lightweight VS Code extensions is the direction to quickly reach out to our targeted customers and reduce their development efforts. Considering Ext JS has more of a learning curve than other JS frameworks, we want to make it easier to use for new users. Keeping this in mind, we intend to enhance the Rapid Ext JS to support the drag and drop of components and update configurations in real time.
Ext JS? A little background about the Name: Initially, we called this product VS Code Extension of Sencha Architect. This name was never finalized, and we came up with the name Rapid Ext JS, which is more precise, attractive and convincing.
Sencha Architect? • No metadata! • Hosted as a VS Code Extension • Utilizes @sencha/ext-gen • Still early in lifecycle of product • More and more functionality of Architect over time
2022 • Generating dynamic view of any selected component file • Drag and Drop Components • Editing of Configs • Creating a View with a context menu in any folder • No metadata boundary – Edit the project in any IDE • Download SDK mechanism • Upcoming Beta
