  1. Hello. My name is Clint Savage People online call me

herlo I participate online at the following places I don't always blog, but when I do, I use http://sexysexypenguins.com
  2. From: [email protected] (Linus Benedict Torvalds) Newsgroups: comp.os.minix Subject: What would

you like to see most in minix? Summary: small poll for my new operating system Date: 25 Aug 91 20:57:08 GMT Organization: University of Helsinki Hello everybody out there using minix - I’m doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won’t be big and professional like gnu)... 1991 In June, I graduated from Alta High School and Jordan Technical Center in Sandy, Utah
  3. "I still maintain the point that designing a monolithic kernel

in 1991 is a fundamental error. Be thankful you are not my student. You would not get a high grade for such a design :-)" (Andrew Tanenbaum [creator of Minix] to Linus Torvalds) Your job is being a professor and researcher: That's one hell of a good excuse for some of the brain-damages of minix. (Linus Torvalds to Andrew Tanenbaum) 1992 “Linux is obsolete” I started my very first computer job as the 'Computer Guy' at a medical transcription company.
  4. Red Hat Linux version 1.0 was released in May. It

was called "Red Hat Commercial Linux" with a code name of “Mother's Day”. 1995 Nothing interesting happened to me in the technical world. The first official public release (0.6.2) of the Apache server was made in April.
  5. Netscape publicly released the source code of Netscape Communicator 4.0

1998 The Mozilla project project was founded in order to create a next-generation internet suite for Netscape. At my first serious programming job, I discovered Red Hat Linux version 5.2. Used Apollo (the RHL codename) for more than a year.
  6. Linux is a cancer that attaches itself in an intellectual

property sense to everything it touches..." 2001 A documentary about the free and open source software community is released. Starring such hacktivists as Linus Torvalds, RMS, Eric Raymond and Michael Tiemann. Laid off in May when the technology bubble burst, I spent a month job hunting in New Zealand. I returned in July and enrolled in college.
  7. 2004 After several years away from Linux, I discovered Fedora

Core while attending Utah Valley State College (it wasn't yet a University) during a Linux 1050 class. Novell acquires SUSE Linux for $210 million. Was billed as the 'Rebirth of Novell' by many. Glenn Otis Brown announces version 2.0 of Creative Commons Licensing
  8. 2007 Give One Get One initiative increases distribution to developing

nations by allowing a person to obtain an XO laptop by buying two devices: one for the purchaser and the other being sent to a developing nation. The first Utah Open Source Conference is held. The Open Source Technology Center at Novell hosts over 200 attendees and 35+ presentations.
  9. 2012 Red Hat proved beyond a shadow of a doubt

that Open Source can work in business. Reporting $1.13 Billion in revenue for 2011 Microsoft Open Technologies, Inc. is created to advance the company’s investment in openness – including interoperability, open standards and open source. Microsoft also contributed 688 commits (1%) to the Linux Kernel in 2011.
