1. Higher Education's Enterprise Portal Jim Helwig uPortal Steering Committee uPortal is the enterprise portal built by Higher Education for higher education. It is also the older brother in the Apereo project family. When Jasig first formed in 1999, uPortal became the first project the consortium collaborated on.
2. Powerful, Extensible Integration Platform Like other portal products, you can deploy a rich, personalized experience. Unlike others, uPortal is designed to be extensible to meet your local requirements. We recognize that each institution is unique and cookie cutter approach won't work.
3. Proven, Reliable, Scalable From small community colleges, to research institutions, to multi-campus state wide systems, to international commercial implementations, uPortal can scale up to millions of users.
4. Flexible Authentication and Attribute Delivery uPortal is designed to integrate with the varied mix of identity management systems found on our campuses. It also supports the ability to incorporate multiple systems within the same portal instance.
5. Powerful Groups and Permissions Configurable rules can use this person attribute information to populate user groups. These groups can in turn be used by the powerful permission system that permeates all aspects of the portal system. Portlets and administrative tools can take advantage of the groups and permission system.
6. Flexible Layouts Based on Roles, Devices uPortal has a powerful layout management system that presents users with a personalized experience based on their data-driven roles roles. It also tailors the layout based on the device they are using.
7. Events and Statistics Reporting Over the last year uPortal has seen significant advances in the events infrastructure and statistics reporting. New reports continue to become available, including live dashboards.
