RI-261323 How to submit a requirement? https://rt.egi.eu/ Technology Assessed Used by Researchers Gather Requirements Services Deployed EGI You - VO - VR C - NGI - EIRO - ESF RI Single Sign On htt ps://egi.eu/sso A Virtuous Service Cyc le RT at a gl ance At present there are 272 Requirement Tickets which form the underpinning evidence to 5 'bite sized chunks' ... ... the current 'Priority Topics': 1) Increased stability and scalability for gLite WMS. 2) Better (more verbose and informative) error messages. 3) Fixing the known bugs before adding new features. 4) Coherency of command line commands, parameters and APIs. 5) Better feedback about jobs, automated resubmission of jobs that are stuck on sites. How should I state a Requirement? A well stated Requirement must have: - a clear Use Case ... I need 'this' for 'that'; my evidence is here ... - a sound Impact Statement ... if I don't have it, this will happen/not happen and affect this many users. - Note: 'Requirements' look to the future/near future and are recorded in RT. - Note: problems with production Infrastructure relate to the 'present' and are processed through the EGI Helpdesk using the GGUS system. - Analysis of these Tickets can also lead to the identification of new Requirements which EGI will then process through RT. How can NGI and VRC support teams help? - NGI and VRC Support Teams can greatly accelerate the evolution of the Infrastructure by contributing to the development process. - RT can hold details of the tools and solutions developed to meet 'local requirements' by NGIs and VRCs. - 'Local solutions' can be turned into Infrastructure tools or APIs through EGI. New Requirements come from ... all branches of "the community Tree". The evolution of the European Grid Infrastructure is driven by the users - You and your fellow researchers and developers in VOs, VRCs using grid sites and software services. Users express new Requirements and EGI coordinates their capture, analysis, prioritisation and passage through to when Technology Providers take on their development. - The repository for Requirements is the RT system. - EGI staff review the Requirements Tickets, to ensure completness, validity and assess their impact. - RT System is open to all - NGIs and VRCs can use RT to communicate their own solutions and tools. - RTs are grouped into coherent bite sized chunks called Topics and prioritised. - Prioritised Topics are raised via the User Coordination Board to the Technical Coordination Board and if approved, are taken on for technical development.
