A picture is worth 1,000 words… •  A need to recognize the past, to best understand the present •  We tend to label – good/bad, “A” school, “C” school, etc. •  There can be struggling schools within a “good” district and vice versa •  Need context, need to look deeper • Poverty, housing, race, impact educational outcomes
6. Economic segregation matters because WHERE you live affects so much in life — your access to transportation, employment opportunities, decent health care, and, most important, good schools.
