The two ‘next big thing’ trends at work here: Quantified Self and the Internet of
things. From monitoring your body, your surroundings and your possessions, and
funneling that data through your pocket computers.

- Everyday objects, have (or will soon have) the ability to send and
receive data via the Internet.
- In 2008, the number of devices connected to the Internet surpassed
the number of people using the Internet.

2020, this is predicted to rise to 50 billion.

NEST Thermostat
All you need to do is turn it up when you
cold and turn it down when you warm
It has a motion sensors (near and far field)
The thermostat learns from you when you
use it. It creates a learning schedule.
It is networked, connect to weather
databases, learns from other nest schedules
and gets better with time. You can control it
from anywhere.

Quantified Self, is the practice of monitoring your body to gather data.
You log its activity its inputs (food) and outputs (energy) to provide yourself
with a ‘quantifiable’ picture of your actions

to a healthy lifestyle.
The wristband tracks your movement and sleep in
the background.
The app displays your data, lets you add things like
meals and mood, and delivers insights that keep you
