    CHOIR AND/OR PRIMARY/ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ORFF CLASSROOM WEBINAR
  2. ABOUT SUSIE & PHIL We are music educators, musicians, performers,

    composers AND husband and wife and have been together since 1989!! We have 3 grown up kids between us, one gorgeous daughter in law and another one on the way!! Our business is called ’Welcome to Music’ – building confidence and creativity through music. Our goal is to enrich lives through the joy of music - whether it's working with little kids, big kids, adults or those in aged care. To do this we use a multi modal and multi sensory approach and believe that everyone can be a successful musical participant regardless of background.
  3. GOALS These 10 traditional and original songs/chants are in a

    variety of different styles (such as jazz, gospel, folk and world music) and will cover some of the following: ¡ Actions, body percussion, movement or dance ¡ Orff percussion arrangements ¡ Improvisation ¡ Ukulele accompaniments, Recorder and Boomwhacker parts ¡ Singing games and leaders ¡ Vocal harmonies ¡ Techniques – imitation, echo, ostinato, bordun, call and response, canon, whole song method ¡ Pentatonic melodies and more ¡ Exploring musical concepts ¡ Creating; Exploring; Arranging; Composing; Performing Whether you’re allowed to sing or not during these COVID times – there will be lots of other exciting activities to keep your students actively engaged.
  4. COVID 19 CHALLENGES At home Online teaching and learning At

    school Social distancing Singing – yes or no? Instruments – can you share? How to clean? Instrument packs? AT SCHOOL ¡ Sharing instruments – wash hands and sanitise before and after class. Wipe instruments with damp cloth or natural based sanitiser to avoid the alcohol in a disinfectant that can harm the wood or paint ¡ If you can’t sing – chant, hum, actions, listen, move in place, hand signs, body percussion, read lyrics, stories, rhythms, write, explore, create, play instruments… AT HOME ¡ Asynchronous teaching – videos, handouts etc ¡ Synchronous teaching – relying on internet, student devices, adults being present ¡ SING, SING SING!! Play kitchen instruments and found sounds – be creative!
  5. INDIVIDUAL INSTRUMENT PACKS In zip lock or drawstring bags Can

    include homemade and found objects: • Sticks (dowel or pencils) • Plastic container (drum) • Plastic plate • Plastic spoons • Small metal can without lid (drum/scraper) • Home made shaker and scraper • Poinciana seed pod • Pencils with eraser on end (mallets) • Chairs, stools and table Other things – scarf, puppet or soft toy for littlies, plastic ball, balloon….
