tie both ends of your rope together
Reef Knot (square knot) Thief Knot Granny Knot Grief Knot
(what knot)
A knot is never "nearly right"; it is either exactly
right or hopelessly wrong, one or the other; there is nothing in between. ABOK, pp. 18

a note on rope Avoid twisted rope (especially twisted polypropylene);
it’s harder to tie with (exception: natural fibres). Soft core rope (often called "utility rope") can be hard to untie. Any braided rope is good (ex, Canadian Tire’s red and white braided polyester), so is paracord (ex, Amazon)
