Take note. The ability to comfortably learn (code/design) with a
flow without any interruption increases chances of achieving higher productivity over a period of time.
A programmer is an individual that writes/creates computer software or
applications by giving the computer specific programming instructions.
What are the challenges. ???????
Access to a computer An average Nigerian is likely not
to have access to a computer
Lack or internet: The cost of internet subscribtion is alarming
and the quality and value is really poor
Power supply You probably have a schedule for your lessons,
but if things are becoming difficult to focus on, take a 5-minute break and come back to it — just let your teacher know.
Family & friends Lets face it a typical Nigerian family
will never acknowledge that you are actually busy on your computer.
Time managements There is bound to be distractions from your
regular activities so you should probably have a schedule for your lessons.
Questions and focus: Taking on a new skill on your
own is over whelming and most times you will feel lost on the path.
Society You will have lots of people assume you have
become an internet fraudster
How to overcome these challenges
Adopt consistency You probably have a schedule for your lessons,
but if things are becoming difficult to focus on, take a 5-minute break and come back to it — just let your teacher know.
Get a mentor When things get tough, don't just push
it. Ask your mentor, reach out to your teacher, or seek the help of your commmunity.
Join a community of like minds In a community of
like minds, support will always be available as long as we ask for it
Remember why you started When you start feeling unmotivated and
want to quite, just remember why you started and the big picture ahead
Sign up with the nearest tech hubs around you The
best way to manage the light internet challenges is to get a tech hub closest to you and sign up with them.
Learning a skill in Nigeria can be difficult, but it's
definitely achievable. Your ability to overcome these challenges yields lifelong skills, such as time and energy management, independence, and creative thinking.
