flipIt

 flipIt

We consume news through broadcast media such as CNN, BBC etc which are top-down and authoritative, and through social media avenues such as twitter, instagram etc which are citizen powered and open. Both these media sources - broadcast and social have their advantages and disadvantages.

We decided to marry the two, we redesigned traditional media consumption artifacts - radio, photo frame to embody this duality. By literally flipping the device you flip the media source while being tuned to the same news - you flip perspectives.

Additional features include - shake to switch between world news and local news, tap on the share button to share the news among your friends and followers.

The wooden boxes, the capacitive share button and the several lines of code are hand crafted with love at the MIT Media Lab by Dhairya Dand and Dan Sawada.
