A variable is a single characteristic of any object or event. E.g. In the Homes worksheet, the price, square feet in home, and age of home are all variables.
Variables whose values come in meaningful (not arbitrary) numbers: ◆ Discrete - variables that assume values only from a list of specific numbers. ◆ E.g. in Homes file, the number of cars that can fit in garage (either 1 or 2).
Variables whose values fall into categories ◆ Ordinal - variables whose categories can be assigned some natural order ◆ E.g. in Homes file, the view from the house (0=no view, 1=some view, 2=good view)
