  1. Defenders are really motivated to stop bad things from happening

    to the people and organization they are tasked with protecting. Tricksters look for flaws in software, and are interested in how things work and how they are being used. Wizards treat security as an engineering problem. Instead of talking about risk or how to break stuff, they’re thinking about ways to solve the problem. Assessors recognize that security is a business function and think like actuaries - resources are finite and everything can’t be protected all the time.
