  1. Climate Ready Forestry Workshop: Stories from Queen Elizabeth Forest Park

    Tuesday 8th October 2013 10:00 - 15:30 Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel, Kinlochard, Aberfoyle, FK8 3TL
  2. Two hundred delegates Established a good understanding of the need

to adapt Shared and debated a wide range of adaptation activities Provided evidence of significant engagement across Scottish sectors Optimistic outcome, but recognition of the need to do more
  3. Workstrand Workstrand aim Baselines, indicators and systems characterisation To provide

indicators that will help monitor progress on adaptation across the 12 sectors outlined in Scotland’s Climate Change Adaptation Framework, measured against robust baselines. Scenario analysis To inform the design of effective adaptation strategies and policies by providing analysis of key climate change risks and opportunities in tandem with socio-economic drivers. Benefits, costs, trade offs To develop approaches for assessing and comparing adaptation policy options in terms of economic costs, benefits and trade- offs, and including their distributional impact. Promoting socially just and sustainable development is a central theme together with mechanisms to promote behavioural change. Decision support and knowledge exchange To facilitate the transfer of expertise and knowledge between key decision makers, wider stakeholders and ClimateXChange researchers; and, taking real-world case- studies, to show what works, why it works and how we can translate this understanding into more general practice. ClimateXChange Adaptation Work Programme
  4. Demonstration of Adaptation We are working with a range of

organisations in Scotland to showcase adaptation to climate change, initially in the land-use sector. Our demonstration work includes: Case Studies Demonstration Sites: information about specific sites (such as farms, forests, urban space and flood management initiatives and habitat management) that illustrate particular issues and the adaptive actions taken at these sites to address issues - so as to increase resilience. Demonstration Networks
  5. Forestry Demonstration Aims and objectives • Create partnerships to explore

and understand the adaptation challenge – on the ground! • Provide effective knowledge exchange mechanisms to share practical solutions • Help to build resilience in Scottish forests
