Where will it converge?

Where will it converge?

Transformative technologies like AI don’t just disrupt, but eventually converge into everyday life, becoming invisible yet essential.

Drawing lessons from the internet and industrial revolutions, I examined the forces accelerating AI’s convergence: massive capital, rapid iteration(models and breakthrough), and deep integration.

I also explored its implications across productivity, infrastructure, human connection, and low-infrastructure economies.

  1. Date 2nd October 2025 Presented by Ibukun Adedeji Role Product

Lead, Moniepoint Where Will It Converge? AI and the Inevitable Point of Convergence
  2. Technologies of Great Scale 01 Historical Anchor: The Internet 02

What is Convergence? 03 Convergence Examples 04 The Big Question 05 Echoes from History: Energy 06 Agenda
  3. Cognitive Energy Parallel 07 Forces Driving AI Convergence 08 Profound

Impacts of Convergence 10 Why AI vs Other Tech Hypes? 09 Deeper Challenge: Knowledge & Truth 11 The Future is Being Built Now 12 Agenda
  4. Rarely leave anything untouched. They don’t just change things; they

rewire how we: Live, Work, Relate to the world & each other. Technologies of Great Scale
  5. Historical Anchor: The Internet ARPANET → 1980s beginnings. Tim Berners-Lee

    → Hyperlinks & web pages. Today →
Billions connected, integrated into every aspect of life. The lesson: Technology unfolds gradually, then suddenly feels natural.
  6. What is Convergence? The pivotal point when innovation becomes: Normalized

Ubiquitous Invisible, but indispensable. The revolutionary becomes routine.
  7. Convergence Examples Internet Mobile social networks. Cloud computing Invisible backbone

of modern life. Electricity Powering entire societies, now unnoticed until it fails.
  8. The Big Question With AI spreading across everything: Where will

it converge? When does it stop being called “AI” ...and simply become the new normal?
  9. Echoes from History: Energy Pre-industrial: muscle, animals, wind, water. Industrial

Revolution: steam → electricity → massive scale. Transformation wasn’t discovery alone, but distribution + integration.
  10. Forces Driving AI Convergence Capital Investment Billions → Trillions. Nations,

giants (OpenAI, xAI, FAANG). Tech Advancements Rapid breakthroughs every 6 months. Decades of progress compressed into years. Network Effects More users → More data → Better models → More adoption. Big Tech Integration AI embedded strategically into platforms, locking into ecosystems. Form Factor Adaptability AI = not one device. Browser, hardware, mobile, sensors, robots — everywhere.
  11. AI vs Other Tech Hypes AI AI already has practical,

    broad,
immediate impact across sectors. Others Unlike 3D printing, VR/AR, or Bitcoin
  12. Profound Impacts of Convergence Productivity Tools Copilots & agents. Extend

human creativity, speed up research, automate tasks. Infrastructure Energy grids, finance security, healthcare, climate, cities.
Human Interaction Voice, emotion, companionship. Redefining empathy & digital relationships. Low-Infrastructure
Economies Leapfrogging: AI as the system itself (education, agri, finance).
  13. Deeper Challenge: Knowledge & T ruth AI generates knowledge, not

just retrieves it. Raises questions: Who is the author? What counts as expertise? How do we validate truth?
  14. Seizing the Opportunity Those who anticipate where AI will converge

    will:
 Sculpt its landing.
 Influence its direction.
 Capture disproportionate value.
  15. The Future is Being Built Now If you don’t ask

where AI is headed → you only react.
If you do → you shape the world being born. Question: Are you building with it?
  16. Hardcoded secrets Internet democratized information access. AI democratizes cognitive energy.

AI-Processes info at scale. Generates new ideas. Automates complexity. Core challenge: How we harness it into systems & daily life? Cognitive Energy Parallel
