1. The (fairy) tale of Auwau Founded in 2016 based on a concept which goes all the way back to 2006. Our purpose is making the life of managed service providers and IT departments more enjoyable and fun by utilizing our software solution Cloutility. Our company name comes from a set of guiding principles which we strive for in all aspects of our business: Automation and wow(wau)-factor. This means that if something can be set on autopilot, we do it - and if we can imagine a better way, we take that route, regardless of whether this relates to a feature in our product, our customer service etc. And now let’s just go back to where it all started and the road from managed service provider to independent software vendor… Once upon a time…
2. The solution: Cloutility Cloutility is an on-premise web-based software solution for delivering backup-as-a-service and cost effective S3-to-tape storage-as-a-service. Cloutility organizes business units in a secure multi-tenant hierarchy and provides role-based self-service, custom reporting and alerting, data development graphs, recurring billing automation and much more. 3. Single pane of glass Cloutility supports and seamlessly integrates with a mix of robust, scalable and secure data protection and S3-storage technologies as a single pane of glass. Cloutility integrates with IBM Storage Protect, Rubrik, Cohesity, IBM Storage Defender Data Protect, IBM Cloud Object Storage and PoINT Archival Gateway. And we add more products to our engine aligned with our customers needs. Additionally data from any system can be injected into Cloutility tenants for consumption measurement and billing automation.
4. Plug-and-play Once you have installed Cloutility the following setup and configuration is plug-and-play. Connect your backup and S3 servers to Cloutility and assign backups to tenants/business units. Customers, resellers and departments can now participate in your shared backup and storage infrastructure and if some of your business units have dedicated systems then that is not a problem. Assigning existing backups and S3 buckets from your backend servers to business units can be done manually or automatically via assignment rules.

6. User administration Roles-based user administration allows you to define different roles by selecting the appropriate privileges for a said role and assign these roles to users. To enable efficient user support users can be simulated during support sessions. Cloutility creates an audit log for all committing actions.
7. Multi-tenancy The backbone of Cloutility is a secure and flexible multi-tenant architecture. You can add and organize your real world of tenants (business units, countries, departments, resellers, customers, server groups etc.) in an unlimited tree structure. Users on each tenant have access to the said tenant and its descendants. 8. Partners and resellers All tenants in Cloutility can be branded with their own logos, their own colours and their own smtp-settings. In this way you can set up partners and resellers in your multi tenant tree structure who can add and operate their own subset of customers as if the solution was their own.
9. Blue IT + Green IT + Red IT = The summary page and reports for each of the resellers, Blue IT, Green IT and Red IT shows aggregate numbers for all of their descendant customers. The summary page and reports for the “Resellers” tenant at the top level service provider shows aggregate numbers of the descendant resellers and all of their customers.
10. Reports Reports in Cloutility are configurable in a set-and-forget manner. Make settings to the top level business unit and these settings will now be inherited to all descendant business units. If a descendant business unit has unique requirements for reporting then you can make changes to the default settings at the said business unit level.

12. Initiate, schedule and assign With no technical skills privileged users can activate new backups and schedule backups from Cloutility via self service. Backups and buckets can be assigned to the business unit to which they belong. Additionally privileged users can create S3 buckets for object storage.

14. Data deletion process To minimize human errors when deleting backup data the process of data deletion can be configured in Cloutility. Users with “request delete” privileges orders the deletion of specific data. Other users with “approve privileges” then has to approve or deny the deletion request. Finally if the request is approved the data is deleted on the chosen date for deletion and a report is generated to document the deletion process.

16. Billing automation Use the very flexible and powerful billing engine in Cloutility to automate billing of your resellers, customers and departments. Create subscriptions and activate these on contracts at each customer and department. Cloutility now generates a monthly billing foundation which includes all billing lines for all of your customers and departments.
