3. We have all heard the old adage “the only constant in life is change”. Little Red Door saw a full year of change in 2015. It was also a year full of opportunity. The launch of HIP 2.0, Indiana’s program to expand Medicaid, expanded insurance coverage to more than 300,000 low-income Hoosiers. More than 80% of the clients served by Little Red Door’s Mammography Assistance Program qualify for HIP 2.0, and they now have access to various cancer screenings, diagnostic services and treatment if they are diagnosed. The lowering of barriers to cancer treatment and cancer screening has opened up new opportunities for Little Red Door, which focus on getting cancer patients successfully through treatment and on a path to survivorship with the best outcomes possible. We know there are many unmet cancer-related needs in our community including more transportation, better support for nutrition and physical activity, greater understanding of how to navigate through the health care system, and more counselingand support to relieve financial stress. All of these factors contribute to patient outcomes. For more than 70 years, the Little Red Door has been a leader in our community, in understanding and responding to change, and seizing opportunities to help those who need help the most. 5. Making the most of life and the least of cancer. In 2015, Little Red Door reached 30,941 people through its programs and education outreach efforts. We have reached central Indiana residents through cancer prevention education and outreach to the community as well as through direct services, which include client navigation, treatment services and transportation to appointments. 7. 7 2015 Big Red Bash Exeperience In 2015 we took our cancer prevention message on the road and brought the Big Red Bash Experience to Indy Pride, Indiana Black Expo, and the Indiana State Fair. Over 21 days we interacted with 13,000 people, educating them about small steps that can lower their risk for cancer and asking them to commit to healthy habits through the #bashcancer pledge. We continue to educate and encourage healthy eating, increasing physical activity, avoiding tobacco, and minimizing sun exposure to our participants through follow up emails. The 2015 Big Red Bash Experience was hugely successful due to generous support from our sponsors and our many dedicated volunteers. The Big Red Bash Experience will return to Indy Pride on June 11, 2016; Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration July 15-17, 2016; and Indiana state Fair August 5-21, 2016. Better serving facility for cancer patients Modify the physical space at 1801 North Meridian Street, to better meet the needs of our cancer patients. Enhance navigation services Enhance navigation services based on the Center for Working Families model. Develop targeted wraparound program Develop a wraparound program for African American women with breast cancer to decrease disparities. Goals for 2016
8. 8 2015 Golf Outing Every August, golfers join us at the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course to help raise money for Camp Little Red Door. This annual outing is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year and allows us to hold Indiana’s oldest camp for children with cancer. The 2016 Golf Outing will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016. This year, Camp Little Red Door will be held from Sunday, June 19, 2016 through Friday, June 24, 2016. The Robert T. Grand Leadership Academy will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 through Sunday, June 19, 2016. 2015 Face of Hope Breakfast The 8th Annual Face of Hope Breakfast was held on November 19, 2015, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Expo Hall. This year we had 1020 guests, compared to 910 in 2014. That is the most in event history. We could not have done this without the support of our incredible table captains and sponsors. Our total amount given was $343,477. This is a huge increase from $231,136 last year and again we want to thank everyone who came, gave and supported us. Next year’s Face of Hope Breakfast will be held on November 17, 2016.
