  1. @nestedmann_ | @mentorof3africa Version 1.0 Mentor Of 3 Africa Kickoff

Session ...carry your candle, run to the darkness
  2. Overview Mentor of Three Africa was birthed as an action

plan to the issues analysed from “Rewriting the African Story”. According to the discourse, the biggest problem with the average African is how we think!
  3. Overview one lit candle in a very dark is real

hope for every other dead candles.
  4. Overview But that one lit candle is also at a

potential risk of getting quenched, leading to gross darkness!
  5. Overview Why struggle to light up the entire room? Coming

up with schemes for the masses? Politics or Religion for example. Why not light up just 3! That’s not so much effort right?
  6. Overview However, show these 3 how to light up others,

that they may do the same. Pass this on. 1 leads to 3. 3 to 9, 9 to 27 and on and on we go.
  7. Overview However, show these 3 how to light up others,

that they may do the same. Pass this on. 1 leads to 3. 3 to 9, 9 to 27 and on and on we go.
  8. Presentation Flow Overview Birth Pains Initiative Objectives Core Values Version

1.0 Tools Strategy The Future Open Source Spread Goodness Q/A
  9. Birth Pain When Matt goes out to the streets to

teach the gospel, he soon realised that many young people are either without jobs or are merely living hand to mouth, off the streets - doing illegal or harmful jobs for that matter. A young man schemes scams, and the lady is into prostitution. Most of them ask questions along these lines. “If you are asking me to stop this way of life, what do I do next to survive? What do you want to offer me in return?”
  10. Birth Pain It was soon realised then that when you

offer to help, a lot of them run off with the little “bread” you’ve given them. Permit me to call these young folks “orphans”. Orphan here is in term of mentorship! Many of them have scary backstories about their childhood and upbringing. They got to that point by the result of decisions made on their behalf and by themselves as well.
  11. Birth Pain Here’s the question that led to Mentor Of

3 Africa. Can an African hero raise 3 of their kind out of others who are willing to subject to their tutelage?
  12. MO3 Objectives For every African hero to create a tree

with a depth of 4 in a year. To create little communities or groups of intellectuals or artisans.
  13. MO3 Objectives One African hero raises 3 others, taking them

in as your siblings, children or comrade. These mentees are not only taught skills but the same values as their mentor. The kind of values expected of heroes of captured in Rewriting the African Story. The core values of MO3 draw from these heroic values :)
  14. MO3 Objectives Monitor your downline of mentees till your 3

children get theirs, leading to 9, and 9 get 3 each leading to 27. You can take a rest afterwards Daddy! OR Mommy :D OR You can go on to build another new tree of 3 again, if you enjoyed watching your children running around now as adults! :D It’s that simple. We do not want to create a pyramid of mentors that eventually crashes or is not manageable. We would rather scale horizontally than vertically :D
  15. Core Values of MO3 Members - CLEFT • Community (Fellowships,

Family) • Love (Friendship, Deep Care) • Excellence • Fearless (Daring) • Transparency
  16. MO3 Africa 1.0 1 To raise Software Engineers using this

model. 2 That is just the starting point. The result of the initiative will be publicized. Stories will be told. Blog posts will be written. 3 The result of this scheme will then be duplicated across for other disciplines. 4 Who knows what this might lead to?

These are specialised groups according to the Software Engineering principles that will be taught.
  22. Strategy The Software Engineering groups of 5 will • Create

a full software app from scratch • Work together, learning how to build teams, rotate leadership, encourage one another, use all the tools at their disposal to get along together. • Apply the principles of Software Engineering to build their products • Create state of the art projects that address specific African problems • Write about their app and their experiences • Share their apps with the world • Go out to adopt children too and start their own MO3!
  23. Who should you adopt? • ONLY those who are willing,
