6. You must avoid mentors that do not have spiritual fruit worth reproducing.
7. You must get around righteous, honest and upright people who can help you be more complete in Christ.
8. The best mentors are the ones with the best fruit .
9. Matthew 12:23 NLT 23 “All the people were astonished and said, “Could this be the Son David?”
10. Spiritual MENTOR Teaches Teaches
11. 2 Timothy 2:15 NLT 15 “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.”
12. A spiritual mentor is essentially a teacher.
13. To explain the word of truth correctly,
14. We must study what the Word of God says so we can understand what it means.
15. God will examine what kind of workers we have been for Him,
16. We should build our lives on His Word & build His Word into our lives.
17. Consistent and diligent study of God’s Word is vital,
18. Otherwise we will be lulled into neglecting God and our purpose for living.

20. Make it sure you are following the right teachers and leaders, because you will go no further than they do.
21. Look for leaders who will show you more about faith and whose guidance you can trust.
22. Spiritual MENTOR Example Example LEADS BY
23. John 1:38-39 TPT 38 “Then Jesus turned around and saw they were following him and asked, “What do you want?” They responded, “Rabbi (which means, Master Teacher), where are you staying?” Jesus answered,”
24. John 1:38-39 TPT 39 “Come and discover for yourselves.” So they went with him and saw where he was staying, and since it was late in the afternoon, they spent the rest of the day with Jesus.
25. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the perfect example.
26. He thought His disciples to follow Him and mimic Him by living with them.
27. Following Christ is not enough, We must follow Him with the right reason.
28. 1 Corinthians 11:1 NIV 1 “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”
29. Paul could not tell them to imitate Jesus because the Gospel had not yet written, so they did not know what Jesus was like.
30. The student needs an example to follow
31. The teacher needs to be the best one he knows how to be.
32. The best way to point these new Christian to Christ is to point them to a mentor whom they can trust.
33. In almost 2 years in Corinth. Paul was able to build a relationship of trust with many of these new believers.
34. Spiritual MENTOR Prays For the disciple Prays
35. Philippians 1:3-6 TPT My prayers for you are full of praise to God as I give him thanks for you with great joy! I’m so grateful for our union and our enduring partnership that began the first time I presented to you the gospel.
36. Philippians 1:3-6 TPT I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put his finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!
37. The spiritual mentor does not only model the Christian life, He should pray for the students.
38. This is where spiritual battles are won or lost.
39. We should pray that God would give us a person we can mentor as well as pray for that person through the process.
40. As the mentor teaches the student, he/she should be praying for the student to understand and continue to have an interest in learning the principles of the Bible.
41. Paul is describing the process of Christian growth and maturity
42. That began when we accepted Jesus and must continue until Christ returns.

44. 1 Thessalonians 3:2-6 NLT 2 “and we sent Timothy to visit you. He is our brother and God’s co-worker[a] in proclaiming the Good News of Christ. We sent him to strengthen you, to encourage you in your faith,”
45. 1 Thessalonians 3:2-6 NLT 3 “and to keep you from being shaken by the troubles you were going through. But you know that we are destined for such troubles.”
46. 1 Thessalonians 3:2-6 NLT 4 “Even while we were with you, we warned you that troubles would soon come—and they did, as you well know.”
47. 1 Thessalonians 3:2-6 NLT 5 “That is why, when I could bear it no longer, I sent Timothy to find out whether your faith was still strong. I was afraid that the tempter had gotten the best of you and that our work had been useless.”

49. We can have all kinds of knowledge, but unless we put it into practice we don’t have any proof of learning.
50. Experiencing problems & persecutions can build character, perseverance,
51. & sensitivity Towards others who also face trouble.
52. Problems are unavoidable for God’s people.
53. Your troubles may be a sign of effective Christian living.
54. Paul sent Timothy to encourage the Thessalonians believers to be strong in their faith in the face of persecution and other troubles.
55. Christian life involves obedience to Christ despite temptation and hardships.
56. As the mentor teaches the student, he/she should be praying for the student to understand and continue to have an interest in learning the principles of the Bible.

58. 2 Timothy 2:2 TPT 2 “And all that you’ve learned from me, confirmed by the integrity of my life, deposit into faithful leaders who are competent to teach the congregations the same revelation.”
59. One of the greatest Joy of spiritual mentor is to see his disciples turn around and begin to mentor others.
60. Paul told his disciple Timothy that the things he learned from Paul should be taught to others.
61. But the process does not stop there, Paul said that Timothy should train his disciples to train others.
62. Spiritual mentors empower others and aren’t afraid to share their own power with those that need it.

64. Why do Jesus-followers must seek out spiritual mentors?
65. Because mentoring helps integrate their shattered identities into the abundant life that Jesus teaches.
66. They become more mature versions of themselves and grow increasingly like Jesus.
67. As such, they are able to make the world around them a better place.
