  1. 1 CORINTHIANS 11:1 TPT “I want you to pattern your

lives after me, just as I pattern mine after Christ.”
  2. 1 CORINTHIANS 11:1 TPT “And I give you full credit

for always keeping me in mind”
  3. 1 CORINTHIANS 11:1 TPT “As you follow carefully the substance

of my instructions that I’ve taught you.”
  4. 1 CORINTHIANS 11:1 TPT “As you follow carefully the substance

of my instructions that I’ve taught you.”
  5. They know that the most important thing in life is

to have a personal relationship with Christ,
  6. 1 CORINTHIANS 11:1 TPT “As you follow carefully the substance

of my instructions that I’ve taught you.”
  7. Mentoring is a relational experience in which one person opens

and shares their life with others, enabling another to maximize the grace of God in his/her life and service.
  8. It promotes spiritual growth because mentors help others deepen their

personal relationship with God, help them to grow in the image of Christ, and prepare them to become most usable for the kingdom.
  9. It gives us an encourager and cheerleader, and who doesn’t

need more encouragement in their life, especially in their pursuit of following Jesus.
  10. A mentor can help us achieve goals by offering valuable

advice and objective input as personal and spiritual goals are thought through and established.
  11. A mentor can provide trusted counsel in major life decisions

given the depth of knowledge and relationship developed with the mentee.
  12. 1 THESSALONIANS 5:12 AMP “Now we ask you, brothers and

sisters, to appreciate those who diligently work among you”
  13. 1 THESSALONIANS 5:12 AMP “Who are in charge over you

in the Lord and who give you instruction,”
  14. When you are at a low point, a mentor can

remind you of your value in Christ and encourage you to keep going.
  15. PROVERBS 15:23 TPT “But how delightful it is to say

the right thing at the right time!”
  16. It’s easy to give in to the negative, but spiritual

mentors understand the power of peace, love, kindness, joy and patience.
  17. They are able to instill this thinking in others and

create a positive atmosphere around themselves, even in the face of adversity.
  18. They are genuinely interested in helping others to discover their

unique purpose and identity in life, independent of the mentor and their teachings.
  19. Those that become spiritual mentors often reflect on who they

are as a person, but they measure their worth based on how they’re helping others.
  20. 1 CORINTHIANS 4:16 AMP “So I urge you, be imitators

of me [just as a child imitates his father].”
  21. 1 CORINTHIANS 4:17 AMP “For this reason I have sent

Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord,”
  22. 1 CORINTHIANS 4:17 AMP “ [my conduct and my precepts

for godly living], just as I teach everywhere in every church.”
  23. They realize it is not necessarily the words they say,

but it is their actions that speak the loudest.
  24. They seek to honor God in the choices they make

on a daily basis, and this provides guidance for those they mentor and encourages them to do the same.
  25. Instead they share their experiences and knowledge as a way

of guiding others to the spiritual clarity they have obtained – inspire, don’t instruct.
  26. 2 TIMOTHY 3:10 TPT “But you, Timothy, have closely followed

my example and the truth that I’ve imparted to you.”
  27. 2 TIMOTHY 3:10 TPT “The faith I have, you now

have. What I have hungered for in life has now become your longing as well.
  28. 2 TIMOTHY 3:10 TPT “. The patience I have with

    others, you now demonstrate.”
  29. Spiritual mentors are not necessarily religious leaders, nor are they

managers that orchestrate the building of an organization.
  30. But, they definitely do lead. It’s a different type of

leadership that requires a separate set of characteristics.
  31. And, understanding these qualities can help you identify the mentors

around you that can move your spiritual health to a higher level.
  32. PROVERBS 10:17 AMP “ [and for others his example is

a path toward wisdom and blessing],”
  33. HEBREWS 12:11 AMP “Yet to those who have been trained

by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness”
  34. HEBREWS 12:11 AMP [right standing with God and a lifestyle

and attitude that seeks conformity to God’s will & purpose]
  35. Unfortunately, it can be easy to fall into sin and

lose sight of your relationship with Christ.
  36. A spiritual mentor can be someone who is honest with

you and tells you when you need to turn your focus back to God.
  37. As a result, they can keep you from continuing in

a life of sin and encourage you to live in a way that is honorable to God.
  38. A spiritual mentor can offer wise counsel when it comes

to some of life’s toughest decisions.
  39. As someone who has walked the road before you, a

mentor can guide you in the right direction and steer you away from mistakes they previously made.
  40. They can prepare you for what is to come and

offer advice from a Christian perspective.
  41. If we do not acknowledge that we make mistakes and

sometimes need to change our ways, this can have negative consequences.
  42. In addition, if we do not obey the authority figures

in our life, such as our parents, it can be hard to obey God.
  43. If we surround ourselves with individuals who are walking with

Christ, then we can know they have good intentions when they speak into our lives.
  44. There are mentors who have the job of forming flocks

and leading flocks in a flight pattern. That's good. But then there are mentors who have the job of training eagles how to soar alone. I am the eagle mentor.
  45. There are mentors who have the job of forming flocks

and leading flocks in a flight pattern. That's good. But then there are mentors who have the job of training eagles how to soar alone. I am the eagle mentor.
  46. “I'm not here to mentor you on how to fly

in a flock; I am here to call out the eagles amongst you”
  47. “And encourage them on their destiny to soar high alone.

This is my job, this is my calling (C. JoyBell C.)
