GOD. JOHN 3:1–21 ▸ Who is Nicodemus? He allows us the opportunity to understand our needs 5. Sometimes we leave what we initially think we need with something better (“then left her water pot” 4:29) “Here we view one of the most human scenes of the Master’s whole ministry. The Lord of heaven, who created and controls all things, having made clay his tabernacle, is physically tired, weary, hungry, and thirsty following his long journey from Judea. He who had power to grow food and drink from the elements, who could have transported himself at will to any location, sought rest and refreshment at Jacobs well. In all things he was subjecting himself to the proper experiences of mortality.” (McConkie, Doctrinal New Testament Commentary 1:151).
  5. THE SAVIOR’S PROMISE TO THAT WOMAN EXTENDS TO ALL OF

OUR HEAVENLY FATHER’S CHILDREN. BY LIVING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, WE DEVELOP WITHIN OURSELVES A LIVING SPRING THAT WILL QUENCH ETERNALLY OUR THIRST FOR HAPPINESS, PEACE, AND EVERLASTING LIFE. THE LORD EXPLAINS CLEARLY IN THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS THAT ONLY FAITHFUL OBEDIENCE CAN TAP THE WELL OF LIVING WATER THAT REFRESHES AND ENLIVENS OUR SOULS: “BUT UNTO HIM THAT KEEPETH MY COMMANDMENTS I WILL GIVE THE MYSTERIES OF MY KINGDOM, AND THE SAME SHALL BE IN HIM A WELL OF LIVING WATER, SPRINGING UP UNTO EVERLASTING LIFE.” Jospeh B. Wirthlin “Living Water to Quench Spiritual Thirst” GC 4/1995

Lee called the Sermon on the Mount “the constitution for a perfect life” (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Harold B. Lee [2000], 200).
