This is Stephen Perl's submission for the Last Starfighter contest at WWCE. This is a pitch to implement a rest-based API and web based application to visualize and report WWCE advisor performance metrics.
Joe spends fifteen minutes loading up the manager detail dashboard from Tableau server. ▸ He then exports the information he needs for Jane into an Excel document.
data availability by giving Advisors direct access to information. ▸ Reduce the number of static files propagating throughout WWCE, reducing the number of data inconsistencies. ▸ Reduce the cycle time and amount of work required to tell Jane how she’s doing. ▸ Reduce the cost associated with providing information to WWCE stakeholders by publishing via a REST API rather than purchasing Tableau licenses.
a set of functions that developers can use to perform requests and receive responses (data) via HTTP protocol (a URL / endpoint). ▸ This allows us to easily interface between the Dojo Data Warehouse and a web- based application. ▸ This means we can provide data and information directly to advisors.
Data Availability - Advisors do not have direct access to their performance metrics and must go through a TM. ▸ Value - Tableau Licenses cost $800-$1000 per user. It would cost $560,000 - $700,000 to provide agents tableau access. The data portal was created with open source software and requires no licenses for user access. ▸ Streamlining - TM’s must to manually pull data for each agent. The WWCE data portal can reduce the effort from minutes/ hours per person to seconds.
