  1. In Exercise 2: Illustrated Typography, our task is to create

an aesthetically pleasing illustrated typography by using words generated from the Pictionary Generator, the words I have generated are “puzzle” and “pop” as shown below. Pop Sketch For “Pop”, I wanted to make it as a comic-styled illustration, as shown in a sketch below. Figure 1.1 Sketch
  2. Digitization I imported my sketch into Adobe Illustrator and traced

the sketch using the pen tool. Figure 1.2 Traced sketch into AI I then added some dotted colours from a custom swatch. Figure 1.3 Dotted colour
  3. Next, I filled in the colours and the strokes to

make it more “pop”. Figure 1.4 More colours and thicker strokes Then, I created the word “pop” using the pencil tool, and duplicated each word and overlay it to create a shadow effect. Figure 1.5 The word “pop”
  4. After that, I combined the words with the artwork. Figure

1.6 The combined artwork Finally, I added a top layer with a reticulation effect to make the artwork more grainy. Figure 1.7 With reticulation layer
  5. Figure 1.8 shows the artwork with different background colours. Figure

1.8 Three different colour backgrounds Final Design Finally, I chose the pink background to be my final design as it expresses the meaning of the word more than the other colours. Figure 1.9 Final Design for “Pop”
  6. Puzzle Sketch For Puzzle, I wanted to split each segment

of the letter of the word into puzzle pieces, as shown in the sketch below. Figure 2.1 “Puzzle” Sketch
