all share a passion for food. We deliver tasty, natural snacks through the post in the UK and since our official launch in January 2009 we have grown massively. We are now one of the fastest growing companies in the country and have become extremely profitable which has made our VCs very happy! But it doesn’t stop there. We have big plans to build on this success and are currently going through a very exciting period of expansion, which is likely to include international expansion and moving into new product categories. Our current team is made up of over 100 people who are split between our head office in Richmond and two factories which are just down the road in Feltham and Hayes. We're growing at super speeds and are always on the look out for bright and talented folk who want to be part of something that is completely changing the face of the food industry. 2
The idea of graze is to help people eat better wherever they are. The inspiration? Our unwholesome lifestyles! Stuck at our desks for long periods of time forced us to grab food when we could, we'd become disconnected with the food we ate, mindlessly inhaling food whilst reading documents and replying to emails. We often ate on the spur of the moment making unhealthy choices based on convenience. When grabbing food on the go we always went for the quick fixes which are generally unhealthy and not fit for purpose. Eating like this gave us the energy we needed but not for long and we soon had that mid-afternoon sleepy feeling all over again. We became fed up with eating poorly and feeling rubbish so the graze box was born. The idea of a little box of wholesome, natural food sitting on our desks that we could pick at keeping our blood sugar level stable and our energy levels consistent was very appealing. Not only would it stop us making impulse purchases like chocolate and sweets (around 3pm every day!) but it would help us perform better too. The Founders In 2008 Graham Bosher, Ben Jones, Tom Percival, Tom Newton, Neil Thompson, Edd Read and Brendan Kay created graze. They each work in various areas of graze and are as passionate today about graze as they were back in 2008! Anthony Fletcher is the company’s CEO. Anthony is ultimately in charge of making sure the company continues to grow and that we have a profitable and positive relationship with our grazers. 12

all queries, questions, complaints, compliments and any general chat our grazers want to share with us. Grazers have really high expectations of their boxes, and it’s up to CS to make sure that this is reflected in their emails, which are friendly, informal, helpful, clear and always go above and beyond what is expected of them. If a grazer has made a useful point about how the website works or what’s in their box it’s up to CS to make sure this point is heard, discussed and acted on, if possible, within the company. They’re passionate about making the grazer heard within graze, as they should always be the most important thing to you. We also have a wonderful office angel who keeps everything running smoothly from the front desk in the reception as well as helping with the office management. Finance is a fairly small team and work both strategically on commercial issues and budgeting as well as invoicing and payroll! Talent is responsible for finding the best people out there on the market as well as ensuring all the amazing talented people we have in the business are fully utilised and realise their full potential. We also look after general HR issues. 15
entire company across three different locations gathers via the magic of the internet for our weekly lowdown on what’s going on in the world of graze. The MMM is really important to us as a company giving a chance to have a natter, bring up things that we think are important and raise any issues in a safe, interested environment. We really encourage people to bring ideas and suggestions and this is a great format to also discuss any light bulb moments you may have had! Dress code We are blessed with not having a dress code, but sloppy tracksuit bottoms or boob tubes will be harshly judged by our resident fashionista! Eating and drinking at graze (we like both of these, a lot) graze has two weekly deliveries from Ocado, providing milk, bread, jam, peanut butter, nutella, many cereals and fresh fruit for your breakfast enjoyment. You can have free graze boxes! After you’ve started you should get an induction to the graze website and admin page and as part of this you’ll be given a code to ensure all graze boxes on your account are free. Socials On Friday we have a tab behind the bar of the White Horse over the road. It’s not, of course, mandatory, but it’s a great way to unwind after a long week and to get the weekend started. Every few months, everyone at graze will embark on an evening of fun, frolics, crazy dancing, and laughter. Previous socials have included vintage bowling; an old school sports day, going to the zoo and an amazing warehouse rave in our new mega factory. 16
that? Our school of farming is based in Kabubbu, a village in the heart of rural Uganda. Students are taught how to grow, maintain and then harvest fruit from their own trees. Graduates are then given support by Mr Augustine Napagi (the head teacher) throughout their first few years of farming to make sure their orchards grow as much fruit as possible. The amazing thing about the school is that it provides our graduates with a sustainable source of income. Each student is given the means to grow food for themselves, their families and to sell at local markets. The school invigorates poor rural areas by improving nutrition (the diet in these areas is generally very poor), increasing productivity from the land, empowering locals and providing a source of income. Does all the money go to charity? Yes, every single penny goes to the graze school of farming. How do we raise money for this? Every grazer has their own code that they can give out to friends. If the friend signs up with the code the grazer can choose to have £1 off their next box or give £1 to the graze school of farming, so it’s wonderful so many people have chosen to do so. Have we always supported the school of farming? Up until June 2010 we raised money for the Rainforest Alliance. 17
