    would be a better, fairer, more productive, happier world. Vision problems affect us more than any other disability— impeding our ability to get an education, support our families and to build a better life. Clearly is looking for innovative, scalable solutions that can help the 2.5 billion people worldwide with vision problems left uncorrected.
  2. Innovation Clearly is looking for concepts that are significantly better

    than current options in diagnosis, training, manufacturing, distribution, and data collection. Innovative concepts have the potential to reach the world’s population living at the bottom of the pyramid.
  3. Scalability Clearly is looking for concepts with the potential to

    reach half a million people in need of vision correction. Strong entries will demonstrate how they will double their impact in a few years.
  4. Sustainability Top applicants will present a strong financial model and

    patch to achieve it. Clearly is looking for entries with demonstrated market traction that supports their projected financial model.
  5. Leadership Clearly is looking for applicants with a strong grasp

    on the problem, the potential obstacles, and the requirements for success. They are able to attract resources, recruit a strong team, and demonstrate entrepreneurial problem-solving.
  6. Explain the problem you are solving. Strong applications will clearly

    describe the problem and provide data to support their answer. • The team understands what causes the problem • Answer explains who this problem impacts and why • Problem reflects the desired impact of the competition
  7. What is your solution? High-quality applications create a clear link

    between the problem they have identified and the solution they are offering. • The solution is consistent with the desired impact of the competition • The solution is in-market with demonstrated users or customers
  8. Why does your solution produce better results than others trying

    to solve the same problem? High-quality applications will show other solutions or current behaviors as a benchmark for why their solution is better. • Shares compelling evidence that the solution is magnitudes better than current solutions • Explains why they have a significant competitive advantage for their product or service
  9. How is your solution financially sustainable? Strong applications will present

    a clear and plausible argument as to how their solution generates a reliable source of funding (either through revenue or donations). • The team clearly indicates who pays for the solution • If a nonprofit, it is clear how the applicant acquires funding • The financial model will provide a 12-month runway
  10. How do you scale your impact? The applicant provides a

    clear and convincing vision for how their solution can serve hundreds of thousands of people. The applicant shares a clear narrative of how many people they currently serve and what is required to grow their impact in the next few years.
  11. What is a barrier you could encounter on your path

    to ultimate success and how would you be resourceful to overcome it? Strong applications will demonstrate a sensible grasp on potential barriers and risks including running out of money, and slow customer adoption. Answers should provide specific examples that provide evidence of resourcefulness and preparation.
  12. Describe a future where your solution has succeeded. Help us

    imagine the potential here. Strong applications will exude a high degree of inspiration and passion for the future of their company. • Is the applicant ambitious with their vision? • Does the application make you excited about their vision? • Do you believe this applicant can attract partners and employees in order to achieve success?
  13. Is this a high potential concept? Help us identify high

    potential concepts and strong teams who may have submitted weak entries. We don’t want to miss a good venture who may have had an off day. This is where you tell us to take a second look.
  14. Your Valued Feedback Please provide any advice, insights, or resources

    to be shared with the applicant. This might be a way to think about finding more customers or how to overcome a barrier they described. You can also provide constructive feedback for any improvements.
