1. Project - Mace and Crown CS 725 – Information Visualization Members – Avinash Gosavi & Prasanna Sajjan

Motivation •  Both of us have plans of becoming assistant professors in the near future and it would be great to know the pros and cons of this career path. •  We are also curious to know which department pays the best for a given job description. •  Project results will be published on ODU’s magazine either online or in print.
3. Preview of the data •  ODU Faculty and Staff data. (Adjunct professors, Assistant professors, Associate professors, Full professors, and Faculty administrators) •  It will consist of compensations , faculty tenure, departments, highest level of degree attained by the faculty or staff, age, sex. •  ODU Career Management Center •  ODU Alumni Center •  We are still waiting to get our hands on these data sets since we are in the process of procuring it.

Initial Analysis •  Which department pays the most for a certain position? •  What is the average salary trend in each department over past few years? •  Is there a giant wage increase as the faculty tenure increases? •  How much of a difference is there with respect to compensation between a young professor and an experienced one? •  Which department has a younger faculty?
