  1. VISC-1001 Library Guide: Research Your Theme using Encyclopedias: Credo Reference

This short guide will demonstrate how to research your assigned theme using Credo Reference.
  2. Credo is a reference tool that searches articles from over

600 academic encyclopedias, guides and handbooks. It’s sort of like Wikipedia but it searches across many sources – all citable for your paper.
  3. To get to Credo, start from the Library page at

ocadu.ca/library.htm and click the Databases A-Z tab.
  4. Either type “Credo” into the search bar or browse from

the alphabetical list of databases by clicking Databases A – Z list.
  5. From the results screen limit by Subject to Arts &

Leisure then Art & Art History.
  6. Scan the article for ideas that relate to your theme.

These can be incorporated into your working thesis – a model or loose argument to guide your research.
  7. Remember you can generate a formatted citation by clicking the

“quotes” icon on the top of the page.
