  1. {What we learned} Users do need a visually intuitive way

to manage their emails A well-organized interface helps to de-stress.
  2. a user receiving 20+ emails per day needs a streamlined

way to manage a quickly growing unread or unsorted count because having too many unacknowledged emails causes anxiety {Stressor and Users} User - Desperation - Interuption - Lost - OCD of zeroing it unsorted and numerous unread indicator Stress anxiety stressor

  5. {Trial results} 1. Does the new look feel simple in

a way that would still be functional? 9 Yes / 2 No 2. Would the pre-sorted emails by category reduce overall email processing time? 8 Yes / 3 No 3. Are there any minor or major flaws that you see could be addressed? 4. If you could redesign the visual interface, what would you personally find useful to enhance your experience? Trial with 11 people “I think this means more screens, which means more time and more clicks to move around -- this actually complicates things, at least for me. Depending on the user, and of course I am being subjective, the time marker for how long it would take to read through my emails would be something like, 2,500 hours, so I wouldn't want to see that -- it'd stress me out more” “My main concern is the amount of space things are taking up. I like the side-bar on the left, but it seems like it could be smaller. And the boxes for archived and to-do seem too big. They're not that important, so I wouldn't want them to occupy a lot of space on my screen.”
  6. {Next step} 1. Optimize the space/object balance, reduce clutter 2.

Allowing users to create additional categories (or change the categories). 3. The arrangement of the stacks should be made on the basis of the earlier prioritization by the user, and it will be learning as the user provides more feedback (drag unfiltered emails to categories)
