  1. October 29, 2014 Learn Sketch with Boltmade v1.0

  2. Brian Potstra @bpotstra [email protected] Who are we? Blake Stevenson @blakestevenson

    [email protected] #Boltworks @boltmade

  3. • Intro • What is Sketch? • Get your learn

on • Go home with an app! Agenda

  4. • Photoshop is a great tool and has been the

standard for years but… • It’s not a screen design tool • It’s a powerful image editor that has evolved over time to include MANY features • Most of which, you’ll never use • Sketch leaves out the bloat • Sometimes change is good Why not Photoshop?

  5. What Sketch isn’t… • Image editor • Not a great

drawing tool • Feature-packed • Bug free • An Adobe product (yay!)

  6. • 100% Vector-based UI design tool • All-in-one tool -

from wireframes to polished final designs • Extremely focused toolset • Awesome What Sketch is…

  7. Pros • Inexpensive • Small & lightweight • Efficient workflow

    • Great export features • Active user community
(lots of great plugins) • Constantly saves in the background

  8. Cons • Buggy • Text tools lacking • Still some

    major features missing

  9. • Make a pretend iPhone app • Learn the basic

tools • Demo 3rd party plugin • Export project assets What we’ll learn today
