2. What is 3-D Secure? 3D Secure is a security protocol to prevent fraud online credit and debit card transactions. It refers to 3 Domain Secure and involves 3 parties: the seller, the buyer (the bank that processes the payment) and card associations (i.e. Visa or MasterCard). It is an extra method of authentication for online credit card transactions where a customer additionally confirms his/her card payment.

After a customer decides to buy a product or service from a website, adds it to the shopping cart, proceeds to the check-out, and clicks the payment button, a new additional window appears asking him to enter a personal password (or security code) that is verified by his card issuer. This window is normally marked with MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa logos. How does it work?

5. How to register for 3-D Secure? As a costumer you have several different ways to register for 3-D Secure depending on your personal bank. For example, your bank will send you a text message with a one-time password which is suitable for one transaction. As a merchant you don't need to worry about integrating the 3-D Secure feature, as it is activated for free once you integrate with Cardinity.

The process of 3-D Secure Text message: 3-D SECURE PASSWORD: 123456 Enter 3-D Secure password: 123456 Make a purchase at an online shop that is using 3-D secure and has Verified by VISA or Mastercard Secure Code logos. Enter your required card data and wait for your One-Time password sent via a text message. Enter One-Time password into the field on the 3-D Secure page.
