  1. TV Channels Groups. Geners Breakdown. • TV market got a

    good tradition like not to wait for September as the start of new TV season and do it at the end of August. Surely, start of new shows at the end of month could hardly influence average month indexes. However, it may explain some changes in the viewing of TV channels. • Group of generalists channels increased their share up to 58.16% that is in 0.22 points more compared with July. • Children channels group remains on the second place with 8.07% (+0.36 points) of total viewing. • The third place is kept by the entertainment channels group (shr 7.32%). It’s also the leader in terms of growth rate. Its index increased in 0.76 points. • The group of film channels gathered 5.98% shr in August. • The greatest losses happened with the news channels group. Its average shr reduced almost in 1 point (from 6.38% in in July to 5.45% in August). • Also the rapid increase of the sports channels group should be noted. They grew from 1.61% in July to 2.48% in August. • However, it still didn’t let them to overcome music and science channels groups which keep on being the seventh and sixth respectively.

  4. Generalists Channels • 1+1 Channel steadily tops the group with

    shr 9.74% that is 0.48 points less compared with July. • Channel Ukraine keeps on being the second despite of its shr decrease from 8.33% to 8.18%. • Meanwhile ICTV Channel continues loosing its positions. It stepped down to the fourth place (shr dropped from 7.84% to 7.44%). Recall, the channel held the second place in the group. In July, it yielded its place to Channel Ukraine. In August, it was pushed out by STB Channel with shr 8.04%(+ 0.50 points compared with July). • Novyi Channel’s shr was 6.66% in August. The channel continues being the fifth in the group. • However, Inter Channel has come too close (shr increase from 6.37% to 6.60%). Inter lacks only 0.06 points to gain Novyi channel’s position. • The growth of 2+2 Channel’s shr should be especially noted. On August 14, it has presented the updated design, new projects and concept. TV viewers liked the updates and it reflected on the channel’s shr growth in 0.60 points from 2.99% to 3. 59% in August. The channel changed its 8 place to 7 one.

  7. Children Channels • The most interesting changes in the children

    channels group have happened with its TOP 5. • PlusPlus remains the leader and has increased its shr in 0.09 points, up to 2.7% in July. • Shr of Pixel remained without changes and was 2.02%. • Cartoon Network with 1.72% (growth in 0.13 points in August) is the last in TOP 3. • Also Nickelodeon’s shr has grown a bit (from 0.62% to 0.67%), that let it to stay the 4th in the group.

  9. Entertainment Channels, Rat%, Shr%, August 2017 • The greatest growth

  10. Film Channels, Rat%, Shr%, August 2017 • FOX Channel is

    still the leader among the film channels with shr 1.09%. Recall, The Game of Thrones season 7 was started on FOX in mid July that brought it the first place within the group. In June, FOX’s shr was 0.86%, in July, after the GOT’s new season had started, it overcame 1% and reached 1.05% according to results in July. • Shr of TV 1000 family has decreased a little bit.   11. News Channels, August 2017 • The first four news channels

    dropped substantially in terms of shr in August. Channel 112 and News One both lost 0.31 points each. At that, 112 Channel continues leading the group with shr 2.28% and News One stepped down below 1% and was 0.97%, but it still remains the second in the group. • Espreso TV shr also decreased to 0.67% (from 0.77% in July). • Pryamoy Channel (ex-Tonis), which started its new broadcasting program on August 24, couldn’t improve its share substantially in August; its growth was only 0.03 points (from 0.23% to 0.26%). • However, we decided to gain the momentum and analyze sensitivity of our measurement to format changes by the channel.   12. News Channels, August 2017 • It shows that share of

    the channel has almost doubled starting from August 24 and for the following 4 days of the month. • It’s the reason why we should expect for reshuffles in the news channels group.   14. Science Channels • Rapid increase of shr of Nat Geo

    Wild became the biggest surprise of the August; • the channel managed to grow from 0.36% in July to 1.19% in August, other words its shr almost tripled. • This let the channel to top the group and run away by far from the ex- leader Discovery Channel, which got the second place with 0.71%.

    music channels continues, but was slowing down compared with July. • On the average, share of each music channel decreased in 0.01 – 0.05 points. • M1 remained the leader with shr 1.76%, Music Box was the second in the group and fell significantly short of the leader.   18. Sports Channels, Rat%, Shr%, August 2017 • Football life upturn

    positively reflected on indexes of Football 1 and Football 2 Channels in August. Shr of these channels almost doubled.   19. Regional Channels • Donbas Channel keeps on leading the group

    of regional channels with shr 0.11% (decrease in 0.03 points compared with July). • Chernomorska TRK's shr, after rapid growth to 0.06% in July, returned to its traditional 0.01% in August. This made the channel to move down from 2 to 14 within the group. • Kyiv Channel got the second place in the group with average shr 0.05%.
