  6. CASE: University of Helsinki Feedback System • Background and need

    for the feedback system development: – University of Helsinki has collected quality metrics of university teaching over five years – Data collection has been university wide, collected using web forms – Data were manually transferred to spreadsheets and research software manually → tremendous amount of work → loss of data – An automatised system handling the entire feedback process were needed
  7. CASE: University of Helsinki Feedback System • The acquisition/public tendering

    process: – The acquisition process started in autumn 2011 – No out-of-the-box system available to suit the needs • ie. interactive feedback – Arcusys was selected as the developer for the system • Technology: – The system development were done on the Open Source Liferay Portal Platform – The UI were created using the Vaadin Framework

    tools – Questionnaire editor with drag-and-drop UI – Questionnaire sending via integration to student information system – Progress reporting for monitoring the amount of students responded to questionnaires – Reporting with visualisations

  10. Further plans for the survey system • Currently the system

    is in data security audition process • The system will be taken into use by the autumn 2012 • The system have been gained a lot of positive feedback and interest among the focus groups • Cooperation contract with University of Helsinki – Sharing the results with universities and polytechnics in Finland • Expanding the survey system potential outside the original scope • Sharing the survey tool via Liferay Marketplace – The survey solution/technology – Helsinki University quality model
