5. How do you code? @DawnWagesSays
6. @DawnWagesSays Let’s profile some learning approaches with the 1988 cinematic classic : Land Before Time http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
7. THE-APPRENTICE REX This species is known for it’s ability to find experts - unafraid to ask for help or tag along. Strengths: - High likelihood your code will work - Tips and tricks of the trade - Inherit years of experience Weaknesses: - At the mercy of luck Littlefoot (Brontosaurus) find friends to help the travel http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
8. THE-APPRENTICE REX LOOK AROUND! Littlefoot (Brontosaurus) find friends to help the travel http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
9. BANG-YOUR-HEAD- AGAINST-A-WALL-A- SAURAUS This species goes in rough and brazen. Crazy coding and hacking away. Strengths: - Oh buddy, if anyone knows their code YOU know your code… probably because you did it over three times - Somewhere between the 3rd and 15th refactor you have a pretty elegant solution Weaknesses: - Bull in a china shop Cera (Triceratops) The ego of the species is big on this one. http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
10. BANG-YOUR-HEAD- AGAINST-A-WALL-A- SAURAUS “DOCS ONLY!” @*#$(*#&$(& “I HEARD I COULD DO THIS… IF ANYONE CAN I CAN” Cera (Triceratops) The ego of the species is big on this one. http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
11. TALK-A-BOUT-IT- OPHUS Talks, talks, chatting, talks. Theory meets practice. Strengths: - Truly elegant code with the most efficient of processes. - Uses a consortium of good ideas to inform one solution Weaknesses: - The marginal benefit of each new idea. - Talk about it, be about it Duky (Parasaurolophus) Chatty bunch http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
12. TALK-A-BOUT-IT- OPHUS SPRINTS! Are you staying Friday and Saturday? CO-WORK Space Buddy System Duky (Parasaurolophus) Chatty bunch http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
13. SCARED-A-LOT-O- DON This is a misnomer in the species naming. Not actually afraid, but this species prepares thoroughly as they travel through their journey. Each step, there are many cycles of googling. Strengths: - Similar to the TALK-A-BOUT-IT- OPHUS, they end up knowing about 3 – 5 ways of accomplishing any given task. Weaknesses: - No weaknesses, this is who I am. Ultimate species. - JK – PC in flames from so many open browser tabs Petrie (Pteranodon) The researcher http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
14. SCARED-A-LOT-O- DON WE LIVE IN THE DOCS! TUTORIALS! STACK OVERFLOW ALL OF THE FORUMS & ALL THE WEBS Petrie (Pteranodon) The researcher http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
15. WATCH-AND-LISTEN- O-SAURUS Unlike the TALK-A-BOUT-IT-OPHUS, this species does NOT like to talk about the code. They like to watch, absorb and regurgitate. Strengths: - This is a truly powerful species where they can actually learn REALTIME during talks - Somehow learns by positive energy and osmosis Weaknesses: - We’d love your insights! Spike (Stegosaurus) Quiet and powerful species http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
16. WATCH-AND-LISTEN- O-SAURUS CONFERENCE TALKS! Woot you’re here! TUTORIAL VIDEOS Spike (Stegosaurus) Quiet and powerful species http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
17. PTERO-PYTHON- PARTY-O-DACTYL Not to be confused with the THE- APPRENTICE REX, this species is not looking for intimate mentorship, it’s the group the gets them going. It’s the energy of the group that gets them going Strengths: - The Social butterflies that are essential to making a welcoming community - Are you the talkers? Giving the sprints? Inviting new minds from other disciplines - The evangelist! Weaknesses: - Watch out! We may make other communities jealous with how awesome we are Chomper (Tyrannosaurus) Safety in numbers http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
18. PTERO-PYTHON- PARTY-O-DACTYL DON’T MISS OUT ON LOCAL USER GROUPS MEET-UPS! COWORKS SPRINTS HAPPY HOURS! Chomper (Tyrannosaurus) Safety in numbers http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
19. RACE-TO-THE-FINISH- A-RAPTOR The wise and astute species is well versed in other languages and are great at just jumping in and running forward. No need to start slow, lets jump into the intermediate concepts. Strengths: - Able to apply other languages theories, concepts, tools and conventions when contributing to OSS Weaknesses: - Woah, how did you do that? Ruby (Oviraptor) The Fast runner with thoughtful advice http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
20. RACE-TO-THE-FINISH- A-RAPTOR SIMILAR TO WATCH-AND-LISTEN- O-SAURUS, talks are gold so this species can see all of the things possible DEMO Sites with and without open source code Case Studies Ruby (Oviraptor) The Fast runner with thoughtful advice http://landbeforetime.wikia.com/wiki/
