  4. art direction Dmitry Karpov / 2012г By generating variations with

this programme, the designer does not have to rely on randomly creating variations, but can systematically create variations. From these, the designer can quickly determine a good approach to the wordmark and then develop a solution. Gerstner’s Morphological Typogram “Instead of solutions for problems, programmes for solutions —the subtitle can also be understood in these terms: for no problem (so to speak) is there an absolute solution. Reason: the possibilities cannot be delimited absolutely. There is always a group of solutions, one of which is the best under certain conditions.” (Gerstner 1968)
  5. art direction Designing programs Grid diagram, 1963 (redrawn). Designer: Karl

Gerstner. Publisher: Arthur Niggli, Zurich. This square grid consists of six vertical columns and six horizontal modules, overlayed by grids of one, two, three, and four units. Vertically, the grid is governed by a 10- pt measure, which would determine the spacing of type from baseline to baseline. Dmitry Karpov / 2012г
