  4. Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) •  ISIM is the heart

of the JWST •  Engineers call it the main payload •  This unit will house the 4 main instruments
  5. Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) •  Provided by the University of Arizona

    •  Webb’s primary imager that will cover the infrared wavelength range 0.6 to 0.5 microns
  6. Near-infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) •  Provided by ESA, with components provided

by NASA/ GSFC. •  Will operate over a wavelength range of 0.6 to 5 microns
  7. Mid-infrared Instrument (MIRI) •  Provided by the European Consortium with

ESA and the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) •  MIRI covers the wavelength of 5 to 28 microns
  8. Fine Guidance Sensor /Near Infrared Imager and Slitless (FGS/NIRISS) •

Provided by the Canadian Space Agency •  Allows Webb to point precisely, so that it can obtain high-quality images. •  Has a wavelength range of 0.8 to 5.0µm
