3. Marissa Mayer – A Journey from Google to Yahoo! Mayer  was  20th  employee  for  Google.  She  joined   Google  in  June  1999  as  a  soOware  engineer   She  helped  to  design  the  look  &  feel  of  the  Google   Homepage.   When  Google  went  for  IPO,  Mayer  made  a  fortune.  Her   net  worth  is  about  $300  million!   Mayer  has  been  @  Google  for  13  years  &  during  her   tenure,  she  has  been  an  engineer,  designer,  product   manager  &  execu:ve.     Her  recent  &  last  role  @  Google  was  Vice  President  –   Local  Maps  &  Loca:on  Services   Last  week,  long.me  Google  Execu.ve  Marissa  Mayer  has  been  appointed   as  Yahoo!  CEO.  At  this  juncture,  thought  of  sharing  some  interes.ng   .dbits  about  her  &  here  they  are!!

Marissa  Mayer  is  also  serving  as  a  Board  of  Director  in   Walmart   Mayer  is  also  an  ac:ve  angel  investor  &  has  put  money   into  bunch  of  startups  like  Air:me,  Brit  Media,  Square,   Minted,  uBeam  etc..   AOer  taking  charge  as  CEO  of  Yahoo!,  she  conveyed  one  of   the  most  important  message  to  fellow  Yahooligans  –  “You   are  doing  important  work.  Please  don’t  stop”   Mayer  married  real  estate  manager  Zack  Bogue  in  2009  at   a  3  day  star  studded  affair!   Last  but  not  the  least,  Zack  &  Marissa  are  expec:ng  their   1st  child  this  October  &  she  proved  that  one  can  have  a   successful  career  &  family  life  at  the  same  :me.  Three   cheers  to  her!!   Marissa Mayer – A Journey from Google to Yahoo!
5. Top Contributors!! Last  week,  there’s  a  steady  increase  of  value  adds  from  Cogzians,  right  from  Apple  to  JIRA   &  beyond!!  &  below  are  the  top  contributors.     This  is  encouraging  GUYS,  keep  those  value  adds  coming  in  J   How  JIRA  got  its  name?!   Back  in  the  days  when  Bugzilla  ruled  the  world  &  the  guys  at   Atlassian  dreamed  of  building  a  monster  capable  of  bea:ng  it,   they  realized  there  was  only  one  op:on  –  Godzilla.     But  calling  their  wonderful  new  bug  &  issue  tracking  system   Godzilla  was  a  bit  obvious,  so  they  abbreviated  the  original   Japanese  name  for  Godilla  –  Gojira.   So,  Gojira  became  JIRA  :  King  of  the  issue  management  systems.   -­‐  Sathya,  Test  Engineer,  Cogzidel  Technologies     How  Apple  Computers  got  its  name?!   Steve  Jobs  was  3  months  late  in  filing  a  name  for  the  business   because  he  didn’t  get  any  befer  name  for  his  new  company.     So  one  day  he  told  to  the  staff:  “If  I’ll  not  get  befer  name  by  5   o’clock  today,  our  company’s  name  will  be  anything  I  like…”     So  at  5  o’clock  nobody  come  up  with  befer  name,  &  he  was   ea:ng  Apple  that  :me…  so  he  kept  the  name  of  the  company   ‘Apple  Computers’.   -­‐  Bala,  VP  Sales,  Cogzidel  Technologies   What's  next  from  Android  &  Apple?!   There  is  a  specula:on  that  next  version  of  Android  is  codenamed   as  ‘Key  Lime  Pie’   Next  version  of  Apple  OS  10.8  is  yet  to  release  &  it's  code  named   as  'Mountain  Lion'  .  It  will  bring  some  of  the  best  features  of  iOS   like  Airplay  mirroring,  no:fica:on  center,  Game  center  &   messages  etc...   -­‐  Anitha,  Test  Engineer,  Cogzidel  Technologies

Apple’s  Sundance!!   Apple  has  just  pushed  the  3rd  beta  of  iOS  6  out  to   the  developers  &  code-­‐named  it  as  "Sundance”   -­‐  Padmavathi,  Test  Engineer,  Cogzidel   Technologies     InteresCng  Cdbits  on  iOS  codenames!   iOS  1.0,  codenamed  as  ‘Alphine’  is  named  in   reference  to  California’s  Alphine  Meadows   iOS  2.0,  codenamed  as  ‘Big  Bear’  is  named  in   references  to  another  California's  Big  Bear  Lake..   Another  Californian  resort  Kirkwood  Mountain  has   inspired  the  codename  for  iOS  3.0   &  the  latest  iOS  5.1,  codenamed  as  ‘Hoodoo’  is   inspired  by  Oregon  resort..   -­‐  Kanmani,  Test  Engineer,  Cogzidel  Technologies   Bill  Gates  &  Steve  Jobs  quips  for  us!   If  you  can't  make  it  good,  at  least  make  it  look   good.  –  Bill  gates   You  can’t  just  ask  customers  what  they  want  &   then  try  to  give  that  to  them.  By  the  :me  you  get  it   built,  they’ll  want  something  new”  –  Steve  Jobs   Innova:on  dis:nguishes  between  a  leader  &  a   follower  –  Steve  Jobs   Your  most  unhappy  customers  are  your  greatest   source  of  learning  –  Bill  Gates   -­‐  Patrick  Felix,  BDE,  Cogzidel  Technologies
