on your artwork for the Forests & Me Contest, if you are entering! Information was handed out last week about this optional homework assignment. Celebrations from the Week: I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the students' tremendous focus, patience, and willingness to learn and play Kōnane, a traditional Hawaiian board game similar to Checkers. It was heartwarming to see their enthusiasm and engagement during the activity. I am proud of their efforts and the positive learning environment they created.. Oya, we also did our Genki Ball Toss at the Ala Wai Canal !
  3. The 12 main systems of the human body *Students were

tasked with painting a self portrait and incorporating at least one of the systems within their design.
  4. Hawaiian name: Kahuli Scientific Name: Achatinella A snail is a

shelled gastropod. It’s an invertebrates within the phylum Mollusca
  5. Ms.A Genki Toss K-2 K-2nd graders in S.T.E.A.M class had

a close walk back over to the Ala Wai and were reminded that their Genki Balls they created were dried, and ready to throw in the canal. The Genki Balls would then dissipate and microbially=-0` 3eat up the bad sludge that could then help the Ala Wai become cleaner!
  6. JES COMPUTER CLASS with Mr. Keo Genus, MSW, MFA In

computer class we are learning to use a graphic design software that allows us to create art using the options given through the program. In this way, we are practicing skills that are transferable to future endeavors in graphic design, media, computer programmer and information technology. In fact, some graphic design platforms available today is similar in layout to many coding programs like the MIT App Inventor, Vr.Vex.com and Code.org. It all seems to lead to understanding input options, computer instructions and processes (algorithms) and outcomes. What is great about the design software that we use is that it allows me to create templates made by me and allows me to control the process for creation and desired outcome. Check out our second Graphic Design Project for “El Dia de los Muertos” or “Day of the Dead” and our thirds Graphic Design Project for Christmas. My goal with this project is to say, “we don’t have to google our images to create any holiday art, we can create cool designs using a software!” This way, JES students will learn the 21st century tools available to their generations. Afterall, the FUTURE will be in favor to those who are resourceful, inventive, creative and innovative!
