Believer GOD’S CALL FOR EVERY Believer GOD’S CALL FOR EVERY
18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness [absurd
and illogical] 1 CORINTHIANS 1:18 AMP
18 “to those who are perishing and spiritually dead [because
they reject it], 1 CORINTHIANS 1:18 AMP
18 “…but to us who are being saved [by God’s
grace] it is [the manifestation of] the power of God.” 1 CORINTHIANS 1:18 AMP
Our SALVATION is a continuing evolution of physical, mental, social
spiritual transformation SALVATION
My physical appetites are affected by my relationship with Christ
What I think and desire becomes adjusted,
The company I keep and the places I invest
my times are evaluated and sometimes changed
There is an ever-deepening awareness of God in all things
and His ever-present (Omnipresent) reality whether I’m at church like this or sitting at lunch table with other people.
THE CALL TO Salvation Salvation THE CALL TO 1
5 “He saved us, not because of righteous things we
had done, ..” TITUS 3:5 AMP
5 “…but because of His mercy He saved us through
the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, ” TITUS 3:5 AMP
6 “Whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus
Christ our Savior, ” TITUS 3:6 AMP
It is solely on the basis of GOD’S MERCY that
we are delivered from the penalty of our sin.
Washing of REGENERATION refers to the work of the Holy
Spirit,
Who in a moment makes a person new by the
cleansing of REGENERATION (THE NEW BIRTH)
The NEW NATURE is the ground for living the Christian
life and performing good deeds
The renewing of the Holy Spirit is the continual process
of Christian living is enabled by the Holy Spirit
Resulting GROWTH in character and good works
6 “And I am certain that God, who began the
good work within you, PHILIPPIANS 1:6 NLT
6 “Will continue his work until it is finally finished
on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” PHILIPPIANS 1:6 NLT
The God who began a GOOD WORK within us continues
it throughout our lifetime
and will FINISH it when we meet Him face to
face
THE CALL TO Discipleship Discipleship THE CALL TO 2
31 “To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said,
“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.” JOHN 8:31 AMP
32 “Then you will know the truth, and the truth
will set you free.” JOHN 8:32 AMP
A believer who continues to obey the Word is a
a Learner Disciple,
The one who abides in the WORD OF GOD knows
the truth
The word “FREE” refers to the freedom from the bondage
of sin
OBEDIENCE TO THE LORD means fellowship with Him, protection from
sin and experiencing His love
Jesus Himself is the TRUTH that sets us free
He frees us from continued slavery to sin, from self-deception,
and from deception by Satan.
He is the SOURCE OF TRUTH, the perfect standard of
what is RIGHT
As we seek to serve God, Jesus’s perfect truth frees
us to be all the God meant us to be
3 “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified:
that you should avoid sexual immorality;” THESSALONIANS 4:3 AMP
4 “That each of you should learn to control your
own body in a way that is holy and honorable,” THESSALONIANS 4:4 AMP
THE CALL TO Sanctification Sanctification THE CALL TO 3
JUSTIFICATION is the work of GOD FOR US FOR
SANCTIFICATION is the work of GOD IN US IN
REGENERATION is the importation of NEW NATURE
SANCTIFICATION is the destruction of the old nature
Paul said that lustful passions SHOULD NOT control God’s people
Sexual desires and activities must be placed under Christ CONTROL
Paul strongly urged the Thessalonians not to participate in any
sexual activity outside marriage
The BODY should be honored as created by God
And should be Sanctified in keeping with its purpose.
Sexual involvement outside marriage dishonors God, one’s marriage partner or
future spouse, and even one’s body.
THE CALL TO Holiness Holiness THE CALL TO 4
“Even before he made the world, God loved us and
chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.” EPHESIANS 1:4 NLT
POSITIONAL HOLINESS originated in the timeless mind of God long
before we existed
It is hard to understand how God could accept us.
But because of Christ, we are holy and blameless in His sight
“Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at
living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” HEBREWS 12:14 NLT
BEHAVIORAL HOLINESS is coupled with living in PEACE
A RIGHT relationship with God leads to RIGHT relationship with
fellow believers
Although we will not always feel loving towards all other
believers, we must pursue peace as we become more like Christ.
SIN always blocks our vision of God,
If we want to see God, we must RENOUNCE sin
and obeyHim
THE CALL TO Serve Serve THE CALL TO 5
3 “And so, brothers, select seven men who are well
respected..” ACTS 6:3 NLT
3 “and are full of the Spirit and wisdom. We
will give them this responsibility.” ACTS 6:3 NLT
In the early Church, the Apostles understood that they were
not called to do EVERYTHING
They could not devote themselves to the Word of God
and to prayer, While being distracted by other responsibilities
The early believers looked for people in whom the Holy
Spirit had been working
They called men with GOOD STANDING
They had earned the RESPECT of the community of believers
The candidates were also full of the Holy Spirit, in
other words, they led righteous, faithful and obedient lives.
It is important for us to view our ministries, or
vocation, from this perspective.
Our job and vocations are holy and they are used
by God to share His LOVE, GRACE and to spread GOD’S KINGDOM
The early believers understood that they were called to Holy
VOCATIONS
They served God in different ways, their individual ministries might
have been huge steps of faith, and were empowered by the Holy Spirit
CONCLUSION CONCLUSION 5
The early church was so different from the rest of
society that people wanted to be part of it.
They wanted to live in a RELATIONSHIP with a God
who loves and accepted them
They wanted to SERVE a God who blessed their gifts
and talents and empowered their ministries to other people
The Holy Spirit used the early church then as the
Spirit is using the church now to TRANSFORM lives and change the world.
The Spirit is moving so that everyone could experience God’s
love and grace and in turn shares God’s love and grace with others.
