  1. YOUNG PEOPLE’S FIRST ANNUAL COMIC-CON 2015 Date: Saturday April 25th,

    2015 Time: 10a.m.-6:30p.m. Location: Forest High School 5000 SE Maricamp Rd Ocala FL 34480 For information: Contact Ms. Pohlers at FHS 671-4700 or [email protected] There is a $5 entrance fee for anyone between the ages of 4 and 18. Children under 4 and Adults are free. Children under the age of 13 should be accompanied by an adult. Because this event is for young people, adults must be accompanied with kids!  This is a fundraiser for the FHS Book Club. Students are hoping to raise money to replace, update, and buy new books for the FHS library. We are looking for anyone who wants to be a vendor, a sponsor, or donor. Events:  See members of the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion (Star Wars Characters)  Enter one of our many contests: costume, fan art*, trivia, and writing*  Super Smash Brothers Tournament (Paying the entry fee and signing up early is encouraged)  We will have an area set up where you can meet your friends and play RPGs (role playing games) Tell your friends and bring your items to play  Vendors  Great picture opportunities  The villains have a special surprise for the younger folk!  We hope to have a lot more!!!  There will be food for sale *Fan art and stories must be dropped off prior to event. See details on the back. You do not have to be present to enter the fan art or story writing contest, but you must pay the $5 Comic-Con entry fee.
  2. Costume Contest  Two categories: Cosplay and Non-Cosplay  Cosplay

    costumes must be at least 75% handmade  There will be two different times that individuals can compete for each age level. Each individual can only compete once: Four categories: o High school 1:30, 5:50 o Middle School 12:30, 4:30 o Upper Elementary: 5th to 3rd grade 11:30, 3:30 o Lower Elementary: 4 years old to 2nd grade 10:30 to 2:30 PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY WEAPONS (REAL OR FAKE) TO YP COMIC-CON. I KNOW THAT MANY CHARACTERS HAVE WEAPONS, BUT SINCE THIS IS BEING HELD AS A SCHOOL EVENT, WEAPONS ARE NOT APPROPRIATE. Costumes should be age appropriate and be respectful for a family event. When in doubt, use the school dress-code. Fan Art Contest Artwork can be two or three dimensional and any medium can be used. Artwork must be dropped off by 3:00 pm April 22nd to FHS library. We want to exhibit the fan art for the comic-con. Works can be picked up at 5:00pm from comic-con. After the event, I will drop off the works to the appropriate schools. Winners will be announced at 1:00. Trivia Contests Dust off your knowledge of Super Heroes, Disney, Video Games, and Science Fiction Video Games: Lower Elementary 10:00 Upper Elementary 10:30 Middle 11:00 High 11:30 Science Fiction: Lower Elementary 12:00 Upper Elementary 12:30 Middle 1:00 High 1:30 Super Heroes: Lower Elementary 2:00 Upper Elementary 2:30 Middle 3:00 High 3:30 Disney: Lower Elementary 4:00 Upper Elementary 4:30 Middle 5:00 High 5:30 Science Fiction or Fantasy Story Writing Contest Here is your chance to be the next Orson Card, C.S. Lewis, or Suzanne Collins. Judging will be based on creativity, originality, and good writing technique. Stories must be dropped off by 3:00 pm April 15th to FHS library. Students do not have to attend the comic-con, but must pay the entry fee to the event. Winners will be announced at 11:00. Three categories: High school: 1000 - 750 words Middle School: 750 – 500 words Elementary 5th to 3rd grade: 500 - 250 words
