  15. Breakfast in Alberton “The Breakfast Program at Alberton Elementary is

still being run through the Home and School. This is provided every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We still have a lunch program at our school where children can buy hot lunches three days per week which are provided by a local business. The menu gets changed periodically and includes such choices as: chicken burgers, turkey dinner, pizza, subs, etc.”
  16. Christmas in Belfast “Our parent group approached the administrators in

November 2012 to discuss having our Christmas Concert in the evening. Parents were finding it increasingly difficult to get to school events during daytime hours. Our administration took this feedback and we held our Christmas Concert this year in early December 2012 at 7 p.m.”
  17. Flowers at Birchwood “This spring, we are hoping to host

a one-day Birchwood Legacy event, which will involve Birchwood families coming together to create a flower garden at the school. This will be a celebration of the school, as well as the teachers and families that make it so special and will be there for future staff and families to enjoy.”
  18. Parent Engagement at Bluefield “On March 12th the Parent Advisory

Committee in conjunction with school administration hosted a Parent Engagement Night, topics covered were (1) RAP team presentation, (2) RCMP, Drugs and Bullying, (3) Talking to your teen, (4) Improving Study Habits, (5) Students Getting Involved in School, and (6) University and College Prep.”
  19. Swings at Elm Street “Over the summer, we had two

new swing sets put in our playground. The students were ecstatic when they arrived in September.”
  20. Appreciating Teachers & Staff at Glen Stewart “Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week

2012 was filled with prizes and treats for the staff at Glen Stewart Primary, with a highlight of a staff luncheon on the Tuesday of the week. We are very fortunate to have an involved parent community who help with volunteering, preparing food, and showing our appreciation of teachers/staff of Glen Stewart Primary.”
  21. Books at M.E. Callagan “Our association applied for funding from

the Guardian Literacy Book Drive and received $1500 to be used for resources for our school’s Book Room Project. We would like to build on this in the future with resources for parents.”
  22. Inferencing at Mount Stewart “We are trying to invite a

teacher out to each of our meetings for them to discuss what they are doing in the classroom. Our grade four teacher Mrs. Waye had a very informative talk on inferencing.”
  23. Lockdowns in O’Leary “Our principal responded to parent concerns re.

Lockdown policy and updated us on some new board changes to the school. This includes all doors being locked outside except the main one, classroom doors locked and teachers have a key, new privacy frosted panes added to replace old glass ones on classrooms door. As well, a buzzer system has been added to the office...”
  24. Three Oaks at Sherwood “In November our regular Home &

School meeting was turned into a speaking engagement by the Principal of Three Oaks Senior High, Nicole Haire. Around 100 parents were treated to a talk from Nicole about how parents can better talk to and help their school aged children.”
