Sacrifice | Good Friday

Christ is superior and the effects of His sacrifice are stunning. He entered in on our behalf, once for all time with His own blood as a sacrifice for all who would believe in him. Once. For You. For Everyone. Forever!

Christ was offered once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him.
Hebrews 9:28

  1. ‘SACRIFICE’ An act of giving up something valued for the

sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy
  2. So Christ has now become the High Priest over all

the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves —he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. Hebrews 9:11–12 (NLT)
  3. While the Jews demand miracles and the Greeks look for

wisdom, we are preaching a crucified Christ: to the jews an obstacle the cannot get over, to the gentiles foolishness, but to those who have been called, whether they are Jews or Greeks, a Christ who is both the power of God and the wisdom of God … I was resolved that the only knowledge I would have while I was with you was knowledge of Jesus, and him as the crucified Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:23–25, 2:2 (NJB)
  4. The passion of Jesus did not take place on a

cold, intellectual, starlit plain; it occurred in the deepest expression of human emotion, amid dirt and sweat, blood and tears. Christ’s passionate outpouring of love on the cross is not only the source of our salvation; it is the source of God’s power and wisdom in our daily lives. Jürgen Moltmann
  5. He has appeared once for all, at the end of

the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Hebrews 9:26 (ESV)
  6. I am coming to you Holy Father. Keep them in

your name which you have given me John 17:11 (ESV)
  7. Who for the joy that was set before him endured

the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2 (ESV)
  8. He laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the

disguise of a slave and becoming like men. And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross. Philippians 2:7 (TLB)
  9. THE CROSS IS NOT A MESSAGE ABOUT SUFFERING, BUT THE

SUFFERING CHRIST, WHO LOVED ME AND GAVE HIMSELF UP FOR ME.
  10. ‘SACRIFICE’ An act of giving up something valued for the

sake of something else regarded as more important or worthy
  11. With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he

entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. Hebrews 9:12 (NLT)
