  2. 1 – Exclusive Fishing • Ocean, big course net with

big holes • Jim is caught but Sally slips through the net.
  3. 2 – Quota-Driven Fishing • Ocean, boat, pole, bait (e.g.

Uni sponsors through Academy or marketing campaigns) to attract specific audiences
  4. 3 – Inclusive Fishing • Ocean, fine net with small

holes • Take a look at everyone, regardless of their position or opportunities (i.e. remove our prejudice blinkers) and assess them based upon their raw talent and potential alone. • This means the pool we’re looking at is bigger but the quality of talent available will be higher.
  5. Put these fish in tank 1 (HQ) • Feed them

with the same fish food so that they can all grow to the same size. • i.e. equal pay, opportunities within the workplace, training, cohesive company culture, strong management and mentorship. • The fish all grow to the same size and their inner talent/potential is optimised
  6. Chuck them back into the ocean • Now we want

to find candidates for tank 2 – the pool of talent. • Sally has grown into a big & strong fish and she’s hungry for talent. • She knows how it feels to be a small fish with unappreciated talent that’s waiting to be spotted. She understands the frustration and she has a better idea of how to identify that talent. • Jim & Sally both select the best fish in the ocean and put them into tank 2.
  7. And there you have it • Two tanks, filled with

a happy, healthy, strong and diverse stock of talent. • They understand each other, respect each other and want to learn from one another.
