Chaar Yaar Chamatkar Pitch Bible | Arnesh Kundu

Chaar Yaar Chamatkar Pitch Bible | Arnesh Kundu

"Chaar Yaar Chamatkar" (The Four Fabulous Friends) is a Kids TV Show concept I made for Paperboat Design Studios in 2021. I worked on the story structure, character designs, and visual development to put together a pitch deck over 3 months.

In the ordinary town of Niralapur, four spirited pre-teens must use their wacky, uncontrollable superpowers to protect their housing colony from the nefarious schemes of Hakambir Saab, a pompous businessman trying to turn the town into a Shopping Mall.

  1. In the ordinary town of Niralapur, four spirited pre-teens must

use their wacky, uncontrollable superpowers to protect their housing colony from the nefarious schemes of the pompous Hakambir Saab, as he tries to amass wealth and power to take over the town.
  2. Like all small towns, Niralapur has its fair share of

rumours and secrets, and the bi gest of these concerns Mamuli Housing Colony. Rumour has it that the colony is home to four brave guardians with miraculous powers; why and how they perform miraculous feats are always a subject of speculation. Li le do the people know that these brave and righteous protectors are in fact four mischievous 11-year-olds with newfound wacky superpowers The Chaar Yaar Chamatkar!
  3. Of course, all this fanfare about Mamuli Housing colony is

bound to a ract varieties of evils, the flashiest of which comes in the form of the pompous Hakambir Saab, a budding business tycoon who is absolutely certain that the colony is his secret to amassing great wealth and power and taking over all of Niralapur. Whether it be his countless interns carrying out his nefarious schemes, his menacing bodyguards Body and Guard, or his bully of a daughter Pari, the Chaar Yaars have their work cut out for them!
  4. We follow the adventures of the Chaar Yaar Chamatkar as

they try to solve problems in their housing colony in unconventional and extravagant ways, and join them as they occasionally play games and hang out. We also see how each of the Chaar Yaars deal with their unique powers and personalities along this bombastic journey. So What are you waiting for? Let’s meet the Gang!
  5. Chakku is an adventure seeker at heart, which he gets

from all the comics he loves reading in his spare time. He aspires to be like his favourite comic book heroes and keeps the group’s morale up through his bravery. He loves a challenge and always faces his problems head-on which actually means that he jumps headfirst into any problem he faces, throwing caution to the wind. Chakku
  6. Chakku has the power to turn his hand into random

objects, but never the one he needs for that situation. To make ma ers worse, he can’t change his hand back until three hours later and needs a big refresher a er he’s done! As one would expect, this frustrates Chakku quite a lot, and he o en needs help from others on how he can use his power to help them out of problematic situations. Because of his dependence on his group and their friendship, Chakku cares deeply about the well-being of his friends and stands up to anyone or anything that might threaten them.
  7. Chameli is always tinkering and messing around with gadgets, making

silly contraptions that are a nuisance to the grown-ups. She may be the intellectual muscle of the group, but she’s also their chief prankster, pu ing her strategizing skills to use to alleviate her boredom. Beyond their ability to annoy people, gadgets like the ones Dr Jvalamukhi makes really fascinate her, and she loves pulling things apart to see how they work. She loves combining random objects and building makeshi gadgets that help them on their missions together! Chameli
  8. As much as Chameli likes thinking and strategising intensely, she

can’t do it enough due to her superpower. That’s because when she thinks, her head becomes extremely magnetic, and she has to deal with things constantly flying at her head! The level of magnetism gets stronger the more she thinks while doing math problems smaller objects from pins to staplers might move around, but when playing chess or strategising team plans, larger objects from a steam iron to even a large fridge can get a racted to her! Thus, Chameli is wearing a helmet at all times to prevent her head from ge ing seriously damaged. Being the planner of the group, the others look to her for advice and how to proceed with things and she takes charge when they need to regroup. She gets along with everyone in the group but has a sibling-style rivalry with Chakku that always ends up in some challenge or the other.
  9. Where there’s trouble, there’s… no sign of Chandru! The scaredy-cat

of the lot, Chandru is overly cautious and always over-thinking about most situations. He is constantly worried about every scary situation or person he comes across, o en drawing the gang’s a ention to things they had never considered. However, he isn’t always in a state of paranoia. Chandru loves watching cartoons with Chakku and they o en have lengthy conversations on their favourite episodes and heroes. These discussions o en take place at the nearby chaat stand, Chandru’s favourite place to hang out! He loves all kinds of chaats, and smell of his favourite ones can calm him down instantly. Chandru
  10. And Chandru really needs calming. When frightened, Chandru blows up

like a pufferfish! His chest and arms become incredibly bloated and Chandru becomes a bumbling giant bouncy ball on tiny feet. His physique hence changes from a timid 4-foot boy to a towering 8-foot half balloon! Chandru tends to stay in this form until he smells his favourite food. Chandru’s caution is not a disadvantage for the group, however, as it o en stops them from taking things too far. He acts as a mediator between Chakku’s and Chameli’s rivalry and o en diffuses their arguments to help bring the team together in times of need.
  11. Champa is the calmest of the lot and is rather

oblivious to the shenanigans the others get up to. Her goal is to always talk others into doing her work and taking the time to just relax and enjoy the moment. You’ll o en find her relaxing in the colony garden, along with all the dogs and cats! Champa loves animals and has befriended every dog, cat, and monkey in the colony. When she’s not relaxing outdoors, she’s relaxing indoors, sleeping on the sofa watching nature documentaries. Champa
  12. In complete contrast to her easy-going a itude, Champa’s superpower

is that she can run super-fast… but only backwards! In fact, almost everything she does while running is backwards, and needs directions from the rest of the gang to go where she needs to go. Naturally, she needs a lot of rest a er using these powers, and she carries her pillow in her tiny backpack wherever she goes and goes right to sleep wherever she ends up. Due to the toll it takes on her, and her tendency to get others to do the work first, the gang knows to use Champa’s powers as a last resort, helping them use their own powers more wisely. However, while Champa may just be along for the ride most of the time, she doesn’t waste a moment coming to the aid of her friends. She may be oblivious, but her heart is in the right place.
  13. The group’s guide and mentor, Dr Jvalamukhi is a relentless

ball of energy who loves using her skills to make devices that help solve people’s problems. She practices as a general physician in her small clinic near the colony by day, and tinkers with med-tech by night o en working on devices that might solve a problem brought to them by a patient earlier in the day. Her devices don’t always work however, and may have unintended consequences, but she doesn’t give up and goes right back to fixing it! As you can probably tell, Dr Jvalamukhi is a bit of a workaholic. Dr Jvalamukhi
  14. The gang loves visiting Dr Jvalamukhi ’s clinic and lab

occasionally, to either see what brilliant and wacky device she’s making currently, or to come to her with problems they can’t wrap their heads around. The main reason they hang around her clinic, of course, is to play with her robot companion, C.H.Int.U, who sometimes follows them on their adventures. The Canine Helper Integrated Unit, physically resembles a four-le ged creature, but has the intelligence of a child and helps the Doctor in her daily activities, acting as her smart, cuddly, professional assistant. But Dr Jvalamukhi’s connection to the Chaar Yaar Chamatkar goes beyond just being their mentor. In fact, it goes back to their very origins...
  15. Years ago, Dr Jvalamukhi moved to Niralapur to take some

time away from the rushed cities to work on her research. There, she developed an extremely advanced incubator, to help perfect a child’s immunity in the early stages of growth! However, each time she put a baby in the incubator, it mysteriously broke once the baby le the incubation period, and she had to rebuild it again with different parts each time. She abandoned the project a er the fourth try, but decided to monitor the well-being of the four babies (who lived in the same housing colony as she did) and make sure they were doing okay. In this way she formed a very close bond with each of the children. Imagine her surprise, 10 years later, when she discovered that the children had superpowers! Each of their powers manifested at the age of 10, and the Chaar Yaar Chamatkar were formed! The children were initially very scared of using these uncontrollable powers, but they could always rely on Dr Jvalamukhi to give them confidence and guidance, and inspire them to be be er. That is, when she herself is not causing trouble with her wacky devices! The Origin Story
  16. The incubator’s scanner, which has the purpose of scanning the

baby’s vital signs and maintaining its needs, seems to have scanned a bunch of tools placed near it, and reacted with Chakku’s body and manifested his powers. The incubator’s heating system had to be fixed with an induction coil, which seemed to react with Chameli’s biology to give her a head that acts like an induction coil and becomes more magnetic the more current flows through it. The cause of Chandru’s power seems to come from a malfunction in the feeding unit of the incubator, where it mistakenly increased the amount of protein in the baby food tenfold. The cause of Champa’s powers seem to come from the treadmill motor Dr Jvalamukhi used to fix the incubator’s rocking mechanism, which she mistakenly installed backwards; which in some wacky way resulted in Champa running fast backwards.
  17. Mr Hakambir Bakambir, known as Hakambir Saab to his associates,

is quite the scheming businessman. The owner of a clothing company, Hakambir Saab always wants more more power, more fame, and more control. He thinks that the best way to get all these things would be to amass a whole lot of money and become rich! According to Hakambir, the best kinds of wealth are gold, land, and bank balances. His likes and dislikes seem to be oriented in this regard, and he has fancy tastes in everything his clothing, his house, his car, even his pani puri! He makes sure that everything about him and his company seems fancy and top class. Hakambir Saab
  18. Hakambir is very clear on his end goal, but his

means somewhat always shi ing. Hakambir Saab seems to have a strange tendency to put his faith in rumours, and is absolutely convinced that the secret to his success lies within Mamuli Housing Colony! He then does what he does best: come up with a bunch of elaborate schemes and "business ideas" that he believes will get him closer to having control over this colony. This is just the first step in his ultimate goal to take over all of Niralapur and recreating it in his image! He's able to carry out his every evil scheme with the help of his Interns, who are o en not too competent, but are highly energetic and try their best to follow his orders to the t. These evil schemes are thwarted one way or the other by our heroes, but Hakambir is relentless in his efforts — he regroups, and goes back to hatching a brand new scheme to get what he wants! The only other people Hakambir trusts enough to run the show with him is Body & Guard, his bodyguards.
  19. Nobody knows the real names of Body and Guard, and

the two brothers like to keep it that way. Extremely loyal to Hakambir, they protect him at all costs and help him any way possible in carrying out his plans. The two have very different approaches to their job however. Body is a towering brute who spends his time maintaining his muscles and loves flexing them every chance he gets. His approach when facing a conflict or problem is to headbu it with full force, and he would rather bust through a wall than unlock a door. Guard, on the other hand, is the agile and focused one, who believes in the superiority of martial arts. He learns all his moves from watching tons of bollywood action movies, but hopes to get accepted into a Kalaripaya u academy one day. The sibling rivalry the two have reaches its height every year as they try to best each other at the annual Mr Niralapur Contest! Every year, both of them tie for first place, much to their chagrin. Body & Guard
  20. Pari Bakambir is different from her father in many ways.

Unlike her father, this 4 foot 12-year-old is a menacing presence and strikes fear in the hearts of everyone around her. In fact, most of the children in Pari's Gang and even Hikambir's interns are wary of her wrath! Like her father, however, she has high ambitions to be the best, and nothing but the best and is willing to do whatever she has to do to get what she wants. That's why despite her very close relationship with her father, his constant failure to execute his plans properly always irritates her. It also irks her that Mamuli Housing Colony gets so much a ention and is the topic of everyone's gossip, and takes it upon herself to "show them their place." Pari and her gang thus get into frequent tussles and competitions with the Mamuli Housing Colony, trying to prove her superiority over the boring kids living in that colony. Of course, the kids of Mamuli Housing Colony are far from boring! Pari
  21. Well, looks like our heroes have their plates full! When

they’re not foiling Hakambir’s schemes, fending off his interns, or pu ing up with Pari’s bullying, the Chaar Yaars take the time to laze about their super secret headquarters, investigate trivial problems in the colony, or just play pranks on folks who’ve had it coming! With all this going on, there’s never a dull moment for the Chaar Yaar Chamatkar!
