  5. Some concepts:  No one knows for certain what causes

GID, but it is thought to originate in the womb, pre-birth.  It has been estimated that 1 in 10 of the population have cross-dressed at one time or other. Statistics, however, are unreliable.  The vast majority of trans people are either 'in the closet' or live in 'stealth' – but it is very likely that you will know at least one transgendered person without being aware of it.  Part of the LGBT community – but 'T' is different.
  6. Problems?  Loneliness  Depression  Alcohol abuse  Suicide

 Separation or Divorce  Isolation from family  Public ridicule and harassment  Unemployment  Financial issues  Housing  Violent attack (hate crime)
  7. What do Transpeople want? Same as you!  To be

taken seriously. We're not a joke!  To be accepted, not just tolerated.  Public understanding and an end to mythology.  A much better image in the media.  A valued and equal role in society.  A 'normalised' public presence  Stronger protection against discrimination and hate crime.
