Debugging Diversity discusses the representation issues women and minorities have in tech and how we can do better. This is the lead up to the documentary in production by http://codr.tv. and was delivered by Dan Draper and Catherine Jones at Sydney Tech Leaders.

Solutions • Teach kids to code (gender neutral way) • Eliminate stereotypes (female roles in hollywood, the perception of the “geek”) • Leadership adapts to the changing cultural landscape • Representing opportunities inclusively (e.g. job ads) • Don’t assume someone is or isn’t a coder (a coder could be anyone!) • Educate the existing workforce on behavioural expectations
32. Industry of the future • 50/50 participation effect on overall talent pool • Women are empowered and have a better chance to be equals in the workforce • Pay gap will be 0 • The talent shortage will disappear • Better workplace culture for everyone
